Not bad but performance is an issue

I am a big fan of this whole franchise... I've played most of the series previously and had great fun. The performance on the Mac is a problem to the point where you might think that it detracts from the game. The good is that the gameplay is as good as ever but one of the attractions of the game was supposed to be the state of the art graphics... Sadly the mac version (driven through the CIDER engine) will never allow you to play the game at a level that will showcase the game's graphics to their full. The cost of the on the fly conversion is simply too high.... Still lots of fun. More

Amazing... and then I see the price.

This is such an amazing game, it really is, but £40? Come on. I know apple gears expensive, but when i see the exact same game for £20 on the PC, it kinda make me feel a bit ripped off. I'm not saying it aint worth the money, because it is, but only at a push. More

Brilliant. This will last forever. (C&C Generals does a similar job though)

C&C is now £19.99 and well worth it. It can be a bit scary waiting for skirmishes to load up (loading can be measured in geological time) but once it's going it runs just great on my 2.16g imac. Gameplay is excellent but the single player campaign is much shorter than Zero Hour. I can't comment on the multiplayer side since I have never tried it but I can say that the maps made on the PC version will work just fine in the mac one. I have loads. Skirmish is a blast and will make this game last years even without the multi player side.

I hope we get the expansion pack too!

I gave this 4 out of 5 because it doesn't quite feel as deep as C&C Generals as most battles seem to turn into variations of tank rushes but I may be being a little unfair. These are the best tank rushes I've ever played and there are a few 'home-made' skirmish levels out there that prevent you or the fantastic AI from just rumbling through with hoards of heavy armour. Even if you are an absolute beginner or a gaming guru there are enough options to make skirmishing fun forever. You can alter the difficulty, health and even the character of the AI teams. You won't need another real time strategy game.

I am playing this on a new Macbook Pro, 2.4Ghz penryn, 2Gb RAM, and the graphics are set on high and I have no complaints. Great game for £20, a must buy. only 4 stars because it took so long to come to Europe. More
