Overview

Four years have passed since the aftermath of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and a great tension now smolders throughout the ravaged world of Azeroth. As the battle-worn races begin to rebuild their shattered kingdoms, new threats, both ancient and ominous, arise to plague the world once again.

World of Warcraft is an online role-playing experience set in the award-winning Warcraft universe. Players assume the roles of Warcraft heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest across a vast world. Being "Massively Multiplayer," World of Warcraft allows thousands of players to interact within the same world. Whether adventuring together or fighting against each other in epic battles, players will form friendships, forge alliances, and compete with enemies for power and glory.

A dedicated live team will create a constant stream of new adventures to undertake, lands to explore, and monsters to vanquish. This content ensures that the game will never be the same from month to month, and will continue to offer new challenges and adventures for years to come.

    Excellent game

I've had World of Warcraft since it was released, and with its 1 year birthday arriving soon it's still an excellent game. Graphically immersive (even on my lowly eMac) it follows on from previous Warcraft games (Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne). Even if you hadn't played them before, the initial levels explain a lot of back-story and aquaint you nicely with the world of Azeroth that you play in. Blizzard are releasing new content all the time, adding new areas and instances (special areas with bosses and other harder monsters) as well as updating current classes' spells etc. Blizzard have also recently announced an expansion pack for the game which will extend it even further with possibly more races to play and vast new worlds.

Must have game for RPG fans, fans of the Warcraft series or anyone who simply likes a good game.

Works perfectly on my macbook (non pro)

I'd like to start this review by dispelling any rumours that wow does not work on a macbook as the graphics card isnt up to it. I've been playing on warcraft on my 2.0ghz core 2 duo 2, 1gb ram, superdrive model for a week now. Whilst the draw distance isnt amazing, it still plays very well with high frame rate and vitually no slow down. Best thing about playing it on a macbook as well is you can play anywhere that theres wi-fi!!!

The game itself is absoluely huge, it plays very well and its even better once you get some friends on there with you.

My characters abit rubbish so far so add "Shakeit" and help me on my quest!

    Addictive

I've owned this game since release and can safely say that no other game has captured my attention like this one. I have simply lost months of my life to this game without even realising it.

The graphics are not spectacular but they have improved dramatically since release and are improving with each new patch blizzard releases. Fine tuning is constantly ongoing and despite complaints to the contrary on the official forums a quick look at early ingame movies compared with todays ingame movies will show you the progress blizzard has made.
The Balancing of the various races and classes has been fine-tuned to the point where it really doesn't matter which class you play anymore, chances are you will be as equal as the next class; A double edged sword really since the balancing removes a lot of the classes strengths and weaknesses which make them so unique - however it does make the game very easy to get into. The world itself is absolutely massive, there is no way to play for 5 minutes in this game and accomplish something, you really do need to set aside an hour or two to make playing worthwhile. This is where an hour can easily become two, which turns to three, which turns to four just to get that next level, and the next and the next.
With 60 levels in total (pre expansion) thats a lot of time devoted to one game and I haven't even mentioned honor, reputation and faction rewards, raiding and all the other options available in the game.
Obviously this doesn't come for free and once you have purchased the game you will need to subscribe or buy game cards to continue playing. You can either pay monthly or in a block of months such as 6monthly, obviously the more you pay for in advance the cheaper each month is.
The biggest drawback to this game aside from the cost has to be the games biggest strength - its size and the sense of immersion you get from logging on. Beware you really can lose your life to this game read the official forums for stories of neglected loved ones and other day to day activities suffering at the hands of wow and you will get the jist of it. You have been warned.

ive played this game on mac and on windows. and i hated both of them. first the pc was to slow for the game. and it was just boring on mac.
you have to pay monthly as well. its stupid. you have to pay about £3.00 per month for it and you dont get what you would expect.
so you have to pay £17.99 for it. then about £3.00 per month so for one year you pay:
£53.00!! and just for monthly payment its: £36.00!!! just too expensive for a poor quality game.

What can I say? Blizzard were never great. This game is simply depressing, bad, terrible and pointless. There's also monthly fee.

    Why waste the money ?
