Thin, minimal design.
The slim, yet sturdy Smart Cover protects your iPad mini screen without covering up its durable aluminium back. So your iPad mini still looks and feels like an iPad — just with a little extra protection.
A hinge magnetically aligns the Smart Cover with iPad mini for a perfect fit. While magnets inside help it stay put.
The Smart Cover does double duty as a keyboard stand. Fold it back to tilt iPad mini into a comfortable writing position.
The Smart Cover comes in six vibrant polyurethane colours with a soft, colour-matched microfibre lining that keeps your display clean.
Wake on open. Sleep on close.
Open the iPad mini Smart Cover, and iPad mini magically wakes up. Close it, and iPad mini automatically goes to sleep.
FaceTime and film stand.
The iPad mini Smart Cover folds in just the right places to become the perfect FaceTime and film-watching stand.

The red is lovely
I don't know what the other reviewer is looking at, but my red mini Smart Cover, and the equivalent red smart case for my ipad 3 l ook identical in colour and texture. Maybe their cover is a fake? …

I bought one of these for my iPad Mini as I found the one on iPad 3 to be really useful as a cover AND as a stand. However, the st and functionality is rather limited on the mini really, and it often falls off.
The case is nice, in that it's minimal, but you're probably better off with a different case to be honest. …

More Flaws than Positives!
Overall the cover does what a cover is supposed to do, protect the screen.
I thought the new fabric covered hinge magnet would be great to stop scratches which can be cause with the original metal Smart Cover hinge. But it just makes the hinge a bit flexible and it moves all over the place! Never do I pull it out my bag or coat and the cover is aligned like the pictures! The iPad is hideous to hold when the cover is folded back, what a rip off!
I find myself using a sleeve to protect the iPad mini instead cheaper and works well!
The Positives - The colour is great, for a few days until to corners find some darker colour to catch! …

Design disappointment and very expensive.
Yes, it is a cover of sorts, though completely inferior to the leather version I had on my iPad 2. The magnet is not strong enoug h, it does'nt stand up and the material and colours are poor quality. The polyurethane covered hinge is a disaster and has a very short shelf life. Apple need to look to their designers and see what is going wrong. You can't afford this sort of slide in quality in a market rife with impressive competition. …

Only protects one side of the ipad and collapses under small amounts of pressure when being used as a stand. Very poor design and very overpriced! …
