Overview

The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

    Awful

    • Written by from STRATFORD-UPON-AVON

Bought this as my old original T-shape maglock charger for my macbook stopped working.

Have had it a total of maybe, 2-3 weeks and if I want to charge my laptop the cable has to be put into a very specific position.

Also the metal head that connects to your macbook gets very hot and can burn you.

I will be requesting a replacement and would hope that apple would stop using cheap materials and over charging because of their brand.

    Broken and burns

    • Written by from middlesbrough

I bought this charger probably about 2 or 3 months ago to replace my old one which was the last version the white T shaped one which worked fine without problem until then and was about 3 years old.
The past week or 2 it has slowly started to stop working properly going off when I move it the tinniest amount and then takes a while to get back working again, this is what happened to my old charger before it broke. Now today I felt the head of the charger and the temperature was ridiculous I physically cant hold it in my hand for longer than 4 seconds without being burned! Im worried that it may set on fire if it keeps getting worse. Im going to get in contact with apple to see if they can replace it or something for me. Iv noticed im not the only one as somebody else has posted the same thing as me.

    not good at all

check out the US websites reviews before purchasing one of these. I have to remove the battery on my 2008 MacBook just to make this charger work.
I need a reliable charger, and this is not it.
It's going back to the shop tomorrow, hopefully for a refund

    Problematic

This'll be my third charger in just under two years. Bought my 2009 Macbook Pro 13'' second hand nearly two years ago and the T shape charger that came with it broke about 6 months after purchase. I had another one in the house from a previous Macbook I had and that lasted little over two months. I bought a brand new L shape charger and it seems to be okay for now, though it needs a wiggle before it'll even work. Not only that, but I seem to get the occasional Kernel panic just minutes after I plug it in. I've tested this charger on both mine and my sister's 2011 macbook pro 13" with the same results. This is poor. More

I had "T" MagSafe, they stopped working so I bought "L" MagSafe. Now even these are not working. I have lost my receipt and Apple wont replace it. It is so disappointing. Won't be buying Macbook again. More

    Worst thing ever!

These things don't even last you 6 months without breaking.. I've gone through 4 chargers within the last 2 years, one wasn't even glued together properly, and just fell out of the charger head. Seriously, you'll end up spending more on new chargers than you did for the computer itself.
I was a Mac enthusiast until now.. so done with Mac products.

Yes you can. It works, fine for mine. Since I have both Mac books. I am only using the 85w. You can use a higher watt to charge a lower watt item. Just you cannot use a lower watt for a higher item. Go read a few and they all agreed. More

The white box is a built in power converter so you should be fine with plugging it in as long as you have the adapter that changes plug types. You can check to see if other things are converters if it has something like Input: 100-240V~1.5A 50-60Hz. This shows that an electric current of 100-240 Volts can power the converter without problem, which Spain's electricity falls in. If you cannot find this on a product (though most electronics made in about the last 5-10 years automatically convert) or if you feel you would rather side with caution you can but a converter, but only leave it plugged it when you need the power because converters burn out quickly from overheating if you leave them plugged in too long. The power (Wattage) requirement of the Macbook Pro is higher (the adapter is rated 85W, while the one for the 13"is rated 60W), so you must use the 85W adapter. These regulated power supplies are able to maintain the voltage (V) constant, while the current (I) is adjusted according to the needs of the equipment being powered. Since P=V x I, if V is kept regulated at 10 Volts, the maximum current supported by the 60W adaptor will be 6 Amps, while the 85W adapter will supply up to 8.5 Amps. So, using the 85W with the 13" does not constitute a problem (on the contrary, the power adapter will run cooler), but if you use the 60W with the Macbook Pro, the current drained from the adaptor will exceed its specs, the adapter will overheat and its life spam will be shortened considerably.
