can i connect a thunderbolt display to my 2010 mac pro?
- Asked by David D from Sarasota

- Asked about: Apple Thunderbolt cable (2.0 m)
Best Answer
No. I've spent the past two days looking for a solution. I expected my ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card to drive video to my new Thunderbolt Display though the mini Display Port connector. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Very frustrated. …More

When connected to the Cinema Display via my MacBook Pro. Can I close the lid of my MacBook Pro?
- Asked by David M from Knivsta
- 05-Dec-2010
Best Answer
You most definitely can. You can set any external monitor to be the primary and only monitor for your MacBook Pro. Once it is connected via Mini DisplayPort and properly configured, you must close the lid and do one of three things:
1. Click a paired bluetooth mouse such as the Magic Mouse to wake it.
2. Stroke a key on a paired bluetooth keyboard to wake it.
3. Open and close the lid in one motion.
I'm always traveling, using bigger external monitors as my only display. I'll just hook it up, open and close the lid, and the screen will properly activate.
Hope that helps, friend. …More- Answered by Satchell D from Teaneck

This looks great! Does this work with PCs?
- Asked by Mad B from Minato-ku

This does work fine with a PC. You must either use a converter adaptor (over $100) or use one of the few PC cards with a mini displayport like the ATI 5970. Also, depending on your hardware some people have trouble getting boot camp to install into windows properly on a PC. You must use boot camp to control the brightness on this monitor, or hook it to a mac and set the brightness first. The monitor will remember whatever the last brightness setting was used if you use the mac option. Also, be aware the brightness, sound, and isight camera all utilize the usb port. I should also mention, the isight camera and sound work fine on my pc. …More

Answer
Yes, if you want to save the 100 or so watts of power the screen will take.
An easier option would be to set the screen saver to blank the screen which will greatly reduce the power requirements. …More- Answered by Mike R

Is the Apple LED Cinema Display {27'' flat panel a touch screen monitor?
- Asked by Sharon A from Cranford
- 14-Jan-2011
Best Answer
Sorry … No.
Apple feels the vertical orientation of the
screen does not lend itself well to the touch
interface.
This might change in the future but this model will not
be upgradable to touch capability.
