Product Information

  • Every Mac with a Mini DisplayPort allows you to connect an external display or projector using an adaptor. You can use an external display as your main workspace or to extend your desktop, or you can work in mirrored mode with a projector so you can view what your audience sees.

Use the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adaptor to connect your Mac to a standard analogue monitor, projector, or LCD that uses a VGA connector or cable. Review the documentation or check with the manufacturer of your monitor to make sure you're choosing the right adaptor.

Ratings & Reviews

  • Doesn't work with data projectors

    1.0 out of 5 stars

This adaptor is very disappointing. I found that it works fine with some small (20 inch) Samsung monitors that have a VGA input bu t it doesn't work with any of the data projectors I have in my university department so I can't use my new MacBook Pro (unipart aluminium case) for Powerpoint presentations, which was one of the main reasons for buying the laptop. The problem seems to be that the laptop senses the data projector ( and scales down the laptop display to VGA) but the projector doesn't detect the laptop (and so fails to display the image from the laptop screen). My old MacBookPro (Intel core duo) works fine with all data projectors (using the DVI to VGA adaptor) and I'm now in the silly position of having to use the old laptop for all travel (conferences etc) plus teaching in the university. The wonderful looking new MacBook Pro has to stay at home. Apple needs to issue a firmware fix or a better adaptor as soon as possible.

  • Does not work with Samsung TV's, use the DVI adapter instead

This adapter does not work with my Samsung TV/Monitor and many others have said the same thing. If you have a Samsung TV/Monitor, the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter works perfectly

  • Very poor

    1.0 out of 5 stars

I've got one of these to connect my Macbook Pro to my Samsung TV but as with everyone else, the TV doesn't recognise the output fr om the laptop. (It works find with my Dell laptop and Windows XP).

The result is that the adapter is useless.

  • It Works! Samsung owners, read your manual first!!!!!!!

Great product, works perfectly. Those Samsung owners complaining that this product doesn't work on Samsung TV's, well, perhaps you should have read your manuals first. Samsung has restricted certain modern TV's to use DVI, not VGA. So it's a Samsung Support Issue! Don't blame Apple for it not working. Remember folks, VGA only supports picture, you need a separate stereo/phono cable for audio.

  • Small, light and works

So far this adapter has worked 100% of the time, and I use video projectors quite a bit in many different locations.

  • Worked Well

Rarely do I bother to write a review, but I bought this after seeing the negative comments (really needed it), but it worked excel lently when I used it. In case I did something different, the VGA output was converted using a splitter into a Composite output which was sent to the projectors (not samsung so I don't know whether this would work). On the whole pretty good.
