Innovative Scroll Ball and button
Perfectly positioned to roll smoothly under just one finger, the Apple Mouse's Scroll Ball offers full 360-degree scrolling capability - up/down, left/right and diagonally. You can scroll long web pages, pan full-sized images, manoeuvre around large spreadsheets, control a video timeline and more. And you can even click the Scroll Ball to access your favourite Mac OS X features, such as Dashboard, Spotlight or Exposé.
Touch-sensitive top shell
It looks and feels like a sleek one-button mouse, but the Apple Mouse's smooth top shell hides a powerful secret: touch-sensitive technology under the shell detects which part of the mouse you're clicking, so you can both left click and right click. And if you prefer the simplicity of a classic, one-button mouse, the Apple Mouse is up to the task. Just use the Mac OS X system preference pane to configure it as you want.
Force-sensing side buttons
When you give the Apple Mouse a squeeze, force-sensing side buttons can be configured to activate Mac OS X features, such as Dashboard, Exposé or a whole host of other customisable features.
Customisable
If you have Mac OS X, the Apple Mouse can give you fingertip access to the special features that you love. Simply use the system preference panel to configure the Apple Mouse in the way that makes you most powerful. Control the Scroll Ball's tracking and click functions, as well as the right, left and side click functions. And you can even set up different mouse profiles for every user account on your Mac.
Optical Tracking
Powered by a precision optical sensor, the Apple Mouse provides responsive and accurate cursor movement on almost any type of surface - no mouse pad required.

READ THIS if scrollwheel not working
OK, granted, there is a flaw in the design of this mouse, but I bet 90% of mice problems can be solved like this:
1. unplug the mouse from the keyboard
2. turn it upside down
3. roll the scrollwheel in all directions on a blank (clean) piece of paper, in all directions, for 60 seconds
4. re-attach
bingo! works every time. this is a good mouse in both OS X and Windows, I have used it for gaming and is excellent for browsing large webpages or large documents, with its 360 degree scrollwheel. although at times i want to get away from the mouse/keyboard combo (it is 2008 now, after all), at least this Mighty Mouse lessens the pain somewhat. …- Written by Nicola T from Charlbury

scroll wheel problems
I like Apple products but I'm very unhappy with the scroll wheel problem on the so-called "Mighty" Mouse. I found that within a f ew months of getting my new iMac I lost use of vertical scrolling on the mouse and had it replaced. A couple of months further on and the same problem has occurred with the replacement. The 360 degree scrolling capability is a nice idea, but it has been poorly implemented. …

Scroll ball clogs
Works fine for a couple of months, then the scroll ball clogs up. You then need to crack it open with a screwdriver (forcing open not unscrewing), unscrew the scroll ball assembly, clean the minute rollers, put it all back together and super glue the base back on.
Repeat this routine every 2 months (I've done it at least a dozen times). Helpful technical support people suggested buying a new one when I complained, and then put the phone down when I pointed out that this was rather an expensive option. …- Written by Simon R from BRISTOL

Wired roller ball mouse
Disappointed with the reliability and quality for the price paid. I have had two of these mice now and both had their roller ball fail within six months of purchase, i would have expected something more robust from Apple. …

Nice mouse but – two big buts
Generally a nice mouse to use but just when you're getting used to the luxury of the scroll-ball after years with classic Apple si ngle-button mice, that's when it starts clogging and you're back to square 1.
Also agree with those who've said the cable is too short. …- Written by Christopher S from Preston

First go to system preferences and click on mouse. With the options to choose how to use the differ ent sides of the mouse, I made the right side of the mouse the secondary button.
After that setting, to right click you click on the top right hand side of the mouse and it becomes the right click. …- Answered by Larry E
