if you have a mac and make music this is a must purchase. even if you dont have a mac get one so you can get this with it(20 of 24 people found this review useful)

Must say it's been an uneasy year gettin use to a "Mac" and I have found that Logic Express 8, just like other Apple products, is less "deep" that PC software and lack’s many features, on the other hand you can actually "do" things and do them quickly.
Let me say again I am making music and really enjoying it!! Cubase and Logic started off around the same time. I chose Cubase, over the years it acquired more and more features .. and impossible to use. logic has just got a lot simpler and it's all the more useful for that. It's like a better version of Mackie Tracktion .... I found creating my own Apple Loops and building a song round them lightening fast.... and the bundled instruments mean you can make music without any other soft synths (I won't even bother with "NI Reaktor" as the Logic synths are easier to use and cover what I need).
Ironically I finally have space to get out my classic keyboards and synths... but I won't bother.
Improvements? It would be great if, like Garage Band, I could “play” the computer keyboard live. That would complete the “use it anywhere” feel. Missed opportunity there.
In the early ‘80’s I was lucky to have the use of the first Computer Instrument: the Fairlight CMI. In those days we would never have dreamed what would be possible on my 13’’ MacBook with Logic Express 8. I can’t believe we get ALL this for £129. I thought the guys had made a mistake at the Apple Store checkout. Simply Brilliant.(281 of 405 people found this review useful)

I upgraded to LE8 and found it not wanting in any aspect of home studio music creation. Easy to use, matched my setup without any …Read moreproblems, easy interface and there's loads more of good points. If you are coming from Garage Band, as I did originally, then you will have no regrets. Although my only regret is that I had gone that bit further and had got Logic Studio, but I will eventually, after I have had oodles of fun with LE8. Enjoy
