my macbook is just over a year old. i calibrated it regularly as this is my first laptop and i am very precious about it. it has n ow decided there is no battery in there and has gone completely dead. not reduced capacity, but refuses to see that there is one present. £100 pounds for a new battery to replace one i didn't break is completely unfair and unreasonable. it is a hardware fault not bad maintenance that caused it.

i'm a student and will not be able to replace this for some time. very unimpressed.

  • Battery failed 18 months old - not up to Apple standards

    1.0 out of 5 stars

I don't think I should be replacing this battery at only 18 months old for £99 - this isn't good quality/value but the Apple helpl ine says it is within their acceptable standards. Disappointed. I'm usually a great Apple fan.

Like others, the battery in my wife's MacBook went, system profiler said that it was unrecognized. Spoke to the nice people at App le and although the MacBook was out of warranty by over a year they sent a replacement battery for free. Nice service from Apple!

  • Excellent

Battery is 66 months old, on it's 1050 cycle count and still lasts 2 and a half hours after charging. Others may not be happy but I'm well impressed.

  • Why bother saying 1000 cycle count?!

    1.0 out of 5 stars

Adding the cost of this battery to the initial cost of the laptop and then looking at how long i have had the laptop for I could h ave bought a new "cheapish" non-apple laptop every year for the same cost! Apple has been a huge disappointment to me. I will continue with this laptop attached to the plug (as now it wont even turn on unless it's plugged in) and put the £101 towards a new laptop, which will definitely not be an Apple product.

  • Good life span

So today my 4years and 2month old MacBook's battery has decided to die at 622 cycles out of a maximum of 1000 cycles. Although hav ing to pay so much for a replacement battery is abit unfair as I have already replaced a MagSafe at £50 in its lifespan! Now to decide to run my ageing MacBook of the mains or fork out £101 for a new battery.

Yes there is a difference between the two of them. It just has to do with they way the work and the life of the battery. However all you can get for the MacBook is the polymer battery. On mine I have had it over a year and I still get about 4 to 5 hours and I use it for internet and to take notes in college.

My cycle count was slightly above 350 when it began to tell me I should consider replacing it. It is now over 400 and telling me I should replace it soon. I intend to do so. I have a habit of letting it almost completely discharge before recharging it. I have had this unit for over 4 years and it has been my principal home computer.

In practice, this battery should give around four hours of continuous use with display set to minimu m, wifi and bluetooth on.
