I bought my MacBook Pro 3 months ago and everything was fine until a few weeks when my computer started to shut down without any advertisement. Right now I can not work on my mac if it is not connected to electricity power. I thik that Apple should be aware of the problem and replace all this kind of batteries. More

    Poor quality.

I bought a MacBook pro six months ago in July 2006, the battery life decreased to about 1.5 hours life after a full charge after 70 cycles (Apple's support site claims that the batterys are designed to retain 80% of their original charge after 300 cycles). The MacBook also started to shut-off power completely without warning (loosing any unsaved work). After 85 "cycles" the battery started getting extremely hot, warped, and now does not hold any charge at all. More

    If I could give 0, I would

Two batteries, both only lasted one year.

    Rubbish.

Apple – you are losing it!! I've been a fan for well over a decade. I'm losing faith. Rapidly.

My £1300 laptop has had a failed top clam, failed cables inside, failed logic board, two failed batteries, failed hard drive, and a failed cooling fan.

Our £300 PC has been far, far, far more reliable.

Sort it out. Stop chasing profit and share price – and deliver what you used to.

    Something not right

The second battery I bought now holds about half an hour of power. I bought it 18 months ago. The first one lasted just two years. I am now probably going to have to get another one, begrudgingly. More

As I recently found out, yes indeed it does. I have been leaving my MBP power adapter/charger cord connected for extended periods of time, and just last week when going through the new system pref's of Snow Leopard I say a triangle with an ! inside it in the energy saver/ battery pref's. I asked a friend that works at the local Apple store about it, and his words were "Dude, you killed your battery". I now get at most an hour before the battery low warning pops up.

And all along I have been doing the battery cycling on a monthly basis.

    Bummer Man!

The 1175 fit the 15", so select the 15" size for the newer MA458LL/A and you'll be good. And be sure to download the battery firmware updates for your particular laptop model, if you haven't. You can do that before you install the new battery. I'd add the links to the pages here on apple's support sites that discusses those updates but apple won't let me do that within these answers. Just google "EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs" and you'll find them. More

Apple’s standard for battery deterioration is that the battery should hold at least 80% of it’s maximum charge capacity after 300 cycles. Under normal circumstances, this means roughly 2 years. Granted, everyone has a different definition of normal usage but Apple usually won’t deal with a battery if it’s been through over 300 cycles or three years or age. More
