This battery is garbage after less than a year

Well, I heard a lot about the failure of these batteries but after less than a year I now get 8 minutes before the battery cuts out - with no warning - at around 30%. It's a great laptop so, of course, I will buy a replacement battery. But come on: this is a significant cock-up, Apple! More

    another rubbish apple battery

So, another year, another battery. I am in the process of ordering my 3rd battery for my 2 year old powerbook. Just be aware, whatever they say, these battery's do not have a long shelf life. I have found that after about 10 months of heavy use, the performance starts to fade really quickly, to the point where as it stands now, i can barley turn the machine on before it needs to be plugged in. I love my apple gear, but am getting sick of paying almost £100 for a battery which will last for barely a year. SORT IT OUT APPLE. More

well, as long as you don't expect to be able to use your powerbook without it being plugged in after about 1 year, this is fine. Takes the fun out of owning a laptop if you have to drag the cable around... More

A battery a year keeps the Powerbook used away

Another year, another battery and not cheap either!

I came here with a degree of rose tinted glasses, until I looked up my records after reading the reviews, and realised that my story is almost identical to most others here. My battery is just 14 months old and failing fast, again, just like the previous 2 did. I love Apple products and have done so since my first Mac Plus in the 1980s but my patience is wearing thin now.

Come on Apple - you CAN do better, and you are famous for battery issues (iPod, iPhone etc etc)

I think I might try 3rd party as my experiences here have been so consistently poor...

My 15.2 inch Aluminium battery that is 4 years old & has completed 367 cycles.
It still gives me over 2 hours use between charges.
I have always followed Apple's charging recommendations so the battery has not been abused.
I have looked after the battery & it has looked after me.

Two stars for a 2-year old battery

Like others here, I too got my latest 15.2" PowerBook battery as part of the Battery Exchange Program. It has lasted just over two years and now seems like it is on its last legs.
Today, it gave up all signs of life in a far away airport lounge (3 hours before my connecting flight) when still saying 64 percent full. It is not the first time this has happened and I suppose it is going to keep happening until I join you all in paying close to 90GBP for a new one.
I think that Apple may have had good intentions when they rushed over a new battery to many of us but maybe they were a little too hasty with the replacements.
See you all at the Apple Store.
