Overview

The AirPort Express Stereo Connection Kit with Monster Cables includes everything you need to get the most from AirPort Express: a Monster mini-to-RCA left/right audio cable, a Monster mini-to-optical digital Toslink audio cable and an AirPort Express power extension cord.

Use one or the other audio cable to connect AirPort Express to your stereo or powered speakers (which one you use depends on the ports on your stereo or powered speakers). Use the AC Cord for greater flexibility over placement of the base station.

    Does what it says

Does exactly what it says. Allows you to connect up your Airport Express audio output to your hi-fi or powered speaker system. I have mine connected to an Arcam receiver and obviously Airport Express with no problems whatsoever. The extension lead is good too especially if you have iBook laptops as well as Airport Express adapters as the same lead works for both. More

Great kit, shame parts are not defaults

Don't know about anyone else but my house has plug sockets on the skirting board so the default airport express plug would never fit. This extension lead does the job, just a shame it cost so much (didn't need the cables) and didn't come as default in the uk at least. The rest of the cables are standard, and obviously they've picked higher quality cables to reflect the price. Work well, does the job. More

Depending on which MacBook you have, on the side is a mini display port, or mini DVI port. You will need an adapter to fit whatever is on the back of the t.v. If your t.v. is a plasma, or LCD, it has a DVI, VGA, HDMI, or component inputs on the back. You will need, for example, a mini display to component adapter. If you want the sound to come through the t.v. as well, you will need one of these connectors as well. With my setup, I have a MacBook air with a mini dvi port. The t.v. that I have has a DVI port on the back with a 3.5mm headphone jack. So the cables that I used were: DVI to DVI adapter, DVI cable for video and a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord for audio. I hope this helps and wasn't too long winded. More

The input/output jack on your iMac (looks like 2 triangles) functions as both analog and digital outputs. That means that you can use regular RCA cables (Red and White) for your stereo, or a TOSLink adapter if your receiver has digital input. More

This is an awkward situation. Unless you are able to run a cable from your MacBook to these two stereo systems, you'll need to do this: Buy (2) Airport Express base stations. They will connect to your home network (if you don't have a network, you'll need to buy a router). Here is Apple's information on AirTunes, a feature of Airport Express (mentioned above):

AirTunes takes the music from the iTunes library on your computer and sends it wirelessly to any stereo or speakers in your home. All you have to do is plug an AirPort Express into an electrical outlet near those speakers, then connect them with an audio cable.

In iTunes, you can choose which speakers you want your music to play on — in your den, living room, or bedroom. If you have more than one AirPort Express connected to speakers, you can play the same music on all your speakers at the same time to create a whole-house musical experience.
