  • OK but limited (good) games.

This is a lovely controller that isn't too small and feels good to use. But there just aren't many good games that are compatible This is a lovely controller that isn't too small and feels good to use. But there just aren't many good games that are compatible yet. I've used it with Sonic games, GTA, Table Top Racing and Worms 3. I prefer multiplayer games I can play with my closest friends and family and there don't seem to be many of those either. I wanted it to work with games like Street Fighter, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe or Mortal Kombat. Classic games. I should have researched a bit more first as these aren't supported.
Using it direct with my iPad and iPhone works great but when I use it through AirServer (like Apple TVs Airplay but for your Mac) there is a bit of lag and playing sonic becomes frustrating. I haven't tried it on our Apple TV yet though so can't say if the lag would be the same.
Another negative is the protective cover. It's too tight and just doesn't fit and when it does stay on it soon pops back off again. I did inform SteelSeries and they sent a replacement but only to find this one was too loose and falls off on its own. But, to be honest, this is not needed to play games so is not really anything that should put you off. You do get a zipped pouch to put the controller in anyway so it has some protection.
If this worked with all games that were originally designed for a controller then it would probably scrape 5 stars. But without a great selection of games means limited use and with a poorly fitting cover means I can only give it 3 stars. It would probably gain a star if it didn't cost so much as the negatives would then be a bit easier to swallow.
One last thing...you can connect this to your computer via the included USB cable and update its firmware using SteelSeries update software so it should be "future proof" (hopefully).

Poor connectivity. Sometimes connects but often does not. Limited use on major games but may be more useful in a year!

  • Great Piece of Kit for the iPad

    5.0 out of 5 stars

A great peiece of kit which just makes gaming on the iPhone or iPad a lot more enjoyable and easier to do.
Great size to carry ar A great peiece of kit which just makes gaming on the iPhone or iPad a lot more enjoyable and easier to do.
Great size to carry around in your bag when and perfect to take along with you for long journeys etc.
Simply connects via Bluetooth to your ipad or iphone with minimal issues. I’d say it’s a lot better to use with an ipad rather than an iphone, purely just because the screen is bigger on the ipad and better to game on.
In my opinion it’s the best controller accessory on the market for iOS, as it’s the most versatile with all the different controls and buttons at not to high of a price. I’ve given this 5 stars on the basis of more games becoming compatible with the controller!
For all the future ios game releases I’d say this is a great buy 

  • Great for iPad, not really worth it for iPhone.

It connected easily enough through Bluetooth, and Asphalt 8: Airborne picked it up right away without me having to fiddle with any pesky settings. Haven't played too many other compatible games yet though but there are some decent ones I'm looking to buy which hopefully will work just as well.

One criticism though is I felt that the R1, R2, L1 and L2 buttons were a little close together and occasionally I hit the wrong one, but apart from that I con't complain much because with the removable case for added grip the controller was comfortable to hold and easy to use.

If I was to recommend this though I'd probably only advise getting it for an iPad really, as I feel unless you have money to burn it is not completely necessary for iPhone or iPod. It's not that it doesn't work as well but because the screen is about the same size as the controller and although using it frees up space as you don't have your thumbs taking up 25% of the screen I didn't really feel the controller was needed. Still definitely worth buying in my opinion if you do play a lot of games on your phone or tablet.
