  • Looks nice, starts well, but doesn't hold power - no good for USB sticks

Great looking accessory, plugged in and all seemed to be good. Unfortunately after a few hours the attached USB drives kept being Great looking accessory, plugged in and all seemed to be good. Unfortunately after a few hours the attached USB drives kept being ejected from the desktop due to lack of power. I reinitialised the hub but the same thing happened again later. I have seen this problem before with Belkin hubs. If I still had the box, I'd take it back to the apple store and get a refund

I was under the impression that having its own power supply would make it compatable with most devices but if it is unable to charge an iPad I doubt it will be any use with larger power demands such as printers. If I new this at the time I would have just bought a cheap extension.

  • USB hub with limited life?

    3.0 out of 5 stars

I had a powered hub that worked fine with a PC I had. But it wouldn't play nicely with my Mac. So I bought one of these Belkins I had a powered hub that worked fine with a PC I had. But it wouldn't play nicely with my Mac. So I bought one of these Belkins from an Apple Store, prepared to fork out what I thought was quite a lot for something that had Apple's seal of approval. It did the job and has been working for a year or so. However, the transformer now seems to have packed up. Predictably it is a cheap Chinese made bit of kit and my guess is that I won't be able to just replace the transformer but will be forced to start over, either because Belkin do not sell transformers separately or just because no one will communicate with me before I am forced to do something to keep working.

So the conclusion is that it works well with your Mac but you may have to accept that it has a limited shelf life.
