The big let downs are the setup experience and the airplay performance. Setup is frustrating, involving jumping between the device's wifi and your home wifi. The iOS app used to set it up is unreliable at detecting the speaker. A headache from beginning to end!

Airplay performance is poor, with enough gaps in playback to make it annoying. I resorted to buying another airport express then running the audio from that into the speaker, this gets round the playback problems, but I may as well have bought a simple speaker to achieve the same effect.

The hardware is beautifully engineered, let down by shoddy software engineering, avoid!

Subjectively it sounds noticably better than the first generation Libratone Live. The Loop is loud enough for even a quite large room although I suspect it would struggle with a crowded party. What lets it down is the unreliable and frustrating set up. The first of several attempts with an iPad connected direct to the device simply did not work. Using the Libratone app on the iPad took numerous attempts and manual reboots of the Loop. The overly simplified instruction manual implies that intstallation is virtually plug and play. It is not. However once you finally get it to work you're in for a nice surprise.
