Musical excellence, coupled with cutting edge technology, create an incredibly compelling product.
Minimalist, classy, expensive.
Absolutely what you would expect from Bowers & Wilkins - top notch. From the nautilus tweeters, to the class D amplifiers powering each driver, this speaker oozes quality.
Sublime! Detailed throughout the range, well balanced, and delivering the vinyl-esq warmth that is the B&W trademark. The soundstage produced from one box is incredible. The DAC upscales lossy MP3s to deliver a depth that only the most discerning of audiophiles will be pick holes in. In a word, incredible.
Flawless, delivering lossless streams from iPad, iPhone and iMac without issue. One cautionary note, lossless streams require a strong WiFi connection to prevent break in streams from packet loss.
A doddle, the app from B&W is simple and effective.
//A7 or A5?
I have both the A7 and the A5, so can make a real life comparison between the two. The A7 provides a more dynamic range from the seperate sub-woofer, offering greater detail in the low to mid range. The A5 therefore has a 'fresher' feel, with greater reliance on mid range. However, both are incredible, and in a blind test the average consumer would be hard pushed to notice the difference. If you have the money, get the A7, however if you get the A5 you will be more than happy.
This speaker will make you love with music again. Get one without hesitation. …

Powerful and Detailed

The unit itself is stylish and more importantly sonically packs detail and power, from New Order to the Clash it handles really well. Just be careful where you place it, I have it 2 inches away from the wall and the bass is really tight.
Not cheap, but great piece of hardware. …

Simple and stunning
Setup took less time than unboxing. Easy but naturally, RTFM!
The sound is, for a single box, stunning. To qualify what I say Setup took less time than unboxing. Easy but naturally, RTFM!
The sound is, for a single box, stunning. To qualify what I say, let me tell you that I use an AK120 with an RSA blackbird and an Ultrasone Edition 8 set of cans for my portable setup after years of experimentation with portable sound.
The box can sound a little bass heavy if you position it incorrectly, but overall the trebles are clean and detailed without much discernible sibilance, the mid tones are strong and refined without being domineering. The bass is extended and clean without being boxy.
The SN ratio is excellent across the whole range at all volumes.
I have a rather extreme HiFi setup, but there are times I listen to the music and actually forget it is just the A7 I have put on and not the dual mono block valve amps and the electrostatics. Yes, it is that good if you take some time to position it right.
Solid build quality. Not as uber-stylish as some people reckon (in my opinion) but nice and discrete and easy to forget about until you stream some content through it.
Highly recommended. …

Breaks my heart to only give 4 stars, but..
One small factor that might be important to consider regarding the A7 from B&W if you're going wireless. The sound is amazing, and One small factor that might be important to consider regarding the A7 from B&W if you're going wireless. The sound is amazing, and all the other reviews give this truly astonishing speaker all the fame and glory it deserves.
I just want to add a small label of caution to it: It is not Dualband WiFi (5 GHz, 802.11a/n) but "only" to the old 11/54mbit wireless technology (2,4 GHz, 802.11b/g), so if you live in an area flooded with B/G networks hogging broadcast channels, you are likely to experience frequent disconnects while streaming.
This happened to my other devices as well, and only stable solution was making everything dualband in my home and ethernet-cable this bad boy to my router, so I can still enjoy the supreme music experience through the A7. …

High end sound for a small & sleek speaker
B&W designed this to be a discreet speaker in your living room, aimed at almost being hidden amongst your books on your bookcase. B&W designed this to be a discreet speaker in your living room, aimed at almost being hidden amongst your books on your bookcase. I've had the A7 for around a year and just continue to be impressed with the sound quality. I've got a pretty big open living/kitchen area & the volume is just over half to fill the area adequately. It has plenty of volume for a house party if needed. However it times it can be a little bass heavy and its a shame this can't be adjusted. Airplay has been very reliable for streaming music from Mac, iPhone or Apple tv. This is a long term investment which will always have a place in my house. …

I don't think this is an A7 issue.
It cut out can happen at any time, depending on your broadband.
I don't think this is an A7 issue.
It only works with 802.11g and not with 802.11n, which is a shame.
Something for Bowers & Wilkins to address, perhaps.
We have Virgin and it uses both 802.11g and 802.11n.
Since we got Virgin, drop out is rare.
So make sure you have 802.11g and make sure it's reliable, as it should be anyway.
I love this speaker. …

What is the difference between the B&W A7 and the Zeppelin Air from a sound quality point of view?

I wish I had taken the time to listen to them side by side, but I difference was still clear when I received the A7. I don't have the vocabulary of the audiophiles, so I'll do the best I can. There's absolutely no distortion with the A7 even at full volume whereas the Zeppelin distorted ever so slightly. I was also able to enjoy a more spacious sound from the A7 and more pronounced bass. I'd guess it's due to the new design. As I'm writing this review, I listening to a Tracy Chappman track and she sounds lie she's sitting in the room with me. Everything is so unbelievably clear. I warned you my vocab was less than par...Anyways, I hope this helps:) …
