Ratings & Reviews

  • Expensive and OK sound quality

    3.0 out of 5 stars

I bought these in-ear headphone a year ago with all the hype surrounding it. I have now replaced it with Atomic Floyd Superdart ea rphones. The sound from Dr Dre Tour in-ear headphone have superior bass output but everything else Atomic Floyd Superdart has the upper hand. The bass from these in-ear headphones are mind blowing but its the only good thing about it in terms of sound quality. The noise isolation, mids and high are only so so. In terms of 1-10 I would rate the sound quality 4.5/10 as the bass output is extremely nice. However, after I replaced the silicon ear tips with MoBeast memory foams eartips (which can be found cheaply on eBay) it improves the sound quality slightly but sound isolation is massively improved. In my honest opinion, the MoBeast memory foam eartips are cheaper and much more comfortable than the Comply ones. Even after replacing the eartips I would only rate the sound quality as 6.5/10 as the bass now is even more powerful but mids and highs are only slightly improved. The flat tangle free cables are extremely well made and I never have any problems with tangled wires in a full year of using it. In terms of built quality, it is pretty good but not as good as Atomic Floyd Superdart in-ear headphone. Overall, if you want an in-earphone with super bass and look cool go for it but remember to use it with MoBeast memory foam eartips for an even better listening experience!! Otherwise, I would strongly advise you to buy Atomic Floyd's Superdart.

  • Beats. by Dr.Dre - Tour in ear.

    1.0 out of 5 stars

I purchased these headphones as I was certain with a background in cables Monster would be a great choice.

The headphones are v ery good, until they broke that is. I had these for around 13 months, and used them around 3 hours a week, so I guess you could say little wear. Never had them loud as I was too worried about damaging my already fragile ears.

The right headphone completely stopped working. No warning with a crackling speaker or lack of volume in that one side, just plugged in one day and it was not working.

I contacted Monster, who said to send them back, but as they are out of warranty there would be a charge, very disappointed with the result of what was an expensive purchase. I would highly recommend the Bose oe2i, I bought these after the Beats failed. Have not looked back since.

  • After 3 weeks use...

    4.0 out of 5 stars

OK, I was expecting the worst after reading such poor reviews. While travelling I had forgotten my Etymotics which I love. Now the Etymotics are "relatively reference flat" and I love them for that and they fit my ears really well. I also possess Klipsch S4s, B&W C5 in-ear and some budget Senheissers. I also am music obsessed, so thats the context.

Firstly, the standard soft-plugs didnt fit so i tried the triple-plugs, and though they look really long, they fit OK. There are 6 different options. However, it is IMPORTANT to get them fitting well, and then the primary reason for buying this phone comes in - the BASS. Easily more bass powerful than any of the above phones I have. For pop, rock, indie, punk, alternate it makes the music exciting.

But I wouldn't listen to jazz, classical or folk with these Beats. But then I'm lucky enough to have a number of choices. After 3 weeks no issues with wear and tear as some have pointed out. They have fallen several times to the floor but no issues. The flat red ribbon wire is EXCELLENT for NO TANGLES! Every other phone I have tangles badly. These Beats don't.

The B&W C5s in comparison - rich mid-range, good bass, but too bright for me - I found it slightly fatiguing after an hour, plus I find the ear-loop too fiddly. Good sound, clearer than the Beats but not as exciting. Probably a compromise all-rounder.

The Etymotics HF-5 are excellent, the most accurate I have heard, and a great nice fit. They accurately reflect the music with no hype whatsoever, honest and no fatigue even after 2 hours of listening. However, sometimes I want a bit of bass and thats when I put these Beats on.

I Prefer all 3 above to the Klipsch S4 - nothing wrong with them - perhaps mid-range a tiny bit muffled in comparison - just my preference.

So to get teh best out of these Beats (a) make sure they fit your ear properly otherwise it will sound tinny (b) realise they are not reference quality, but they provide an exciting bass heavy mix which is good for some types of music and not others (c) be aware they complement your standard phones and ideally shouldn't be the only ones you listen to!

If they were £25 less they would be good value, but the extra is just profit they are wangling out of us for the brand image. A good second phone, but not a first choice.

  • Superb Sound

    5.0 out of 5 stars

These beats tours have a very good sound , they will do all frequencies from extremely low bass notes your struggle to hear with o ther earphones to crisp high's and vocals , you can have them full volume without loosing quality , and the bass is incredibly deep but still doesn't distort the other frequencies , defiantly recommended

  • 3rd pair broken

    1.0 out of 5 stars

I have just returned my 3rd pair of Dr Dre Tour In-Ear headphones, they are good sound at first, but I have to keep returning them as they become faulty after 2-3 months, the right ear with MIC on keeps losing sound, as off now I will be looking at the B&W headphones as part of my refund and swerving Dr Dre's from now on.. real shame, as they do sound and look good

    Not really compatible.

You will be able to listen to music and make phone calls from an audio/mic standpoint, but the controls will only function to start/stop music and answer/end phone calls.

This is a common theme with Android phones, as there is no standard to which each manufacturer must adhere with respect to headset controls. Bluetooth headset connections are different, FYI, meaning that the volume and Next/Previous track buttons will function normally with Android devices.
