Great form and function
Picked up this from Apple store today and formatted using LaCie utility software built on hard drive, no sweat. Easy setup, not sure about the design
I bought this as I had had a frustrating experience trying to format a Maxtor One-Touch to operate on my Mac. it was certainly ea I bought this as I had had a frustrating experience trying to format a Maxtor One-Touch to operate on my Mac. it was certainly easy to set up and operate. However, this Porsche design may be elegant, but the case is simply an aluminium oblong with sharp corners that are uncomfortable in the hand. Fortunately, i only need it as a desktop external drive, as I dislike the feel of it and wouldn't want to handle it for portable use. I would have preferred to do without the porsche design and save £20 or so. But it does work well and that's its saving grace. …

Works really well so far
I have only had it a short while but so far so good. I have transferred all my iPhoto's on to there. My MacBook was full so I used I have only had it a short while but so far so good. I have transferred all my iPhoto's on to there. My MacBook was full so I used time machine first to get a copy of my photos on a separate drive then used my LaCie to copy the iPhoto library onto. It automatically now goes to that drive. By hitting command and then clicking on iPhoto I can select the drive I want it to open iPhoto on. Works really well streams videos and pictures at top notch speed.
Now my MacBook has lots of space on it. I do have 53000 photos though. Would definitely recommend. …

Yes if you partition the drive properly. To use it for Windows machines, you will need a MS-DOS part Yes if you partition the drive properly. To use it for Windows machines, you will need a MS-DOS partition which will also work with Mac. However the Mac formatted partition , which only works with Mac machines, is faster than the MS-Dos formatted partitions. The solution I recommend is to have several (at least 2) partitions formatted in different formats (using the Disk Utility in Mac or using Lacie's setup utility). …
