Apple don't stock spare drive modules....
Seems like a solid drive but you must use the G-technology Raid Configurator NOT the apple RAID set up.There isn't anything on th is in the box. Also that must be done via USB, which is a bit of a faff.
After hauling over 2TB of data from my old RAID and checking it and updating the offsite backups, 1 hour in, drive 4 flashed orange. Of course in a normal situation you swap the drive module and it's happy days except I haven't got one so I'm having to do a swap out of the whole unit which will need synching etc.
Will update review to higher stars when I get the thing running OK.
Its fast and so far the data has been secure, but not happy that I haven't got a total solution here. …- Written by Don T from Milton Keynes

Excellent, I would buy another
Very solid build quality, simple to plugin and use. I have it set up to use raid 5 which is how it comes out of the box. This give me 6tb of available space and should last me a very long time before i outgrow the capacity.
No manual in the box instead you download it from the G-Technology web site which i prefer (save trees!)
Fan on the back is noisy so i would not like to have it on a desk or floor for that matter, but tucked out of the way in a cupboard you cannot hear it over an Imac fan for example. I am glad for the fan as it blows plenty of air through it though so overheating should not be a problem.
Over all great product, i would buy another when my back up storage drives fail …- Written by Joe M from Lydney

Answer
I have connected my G Speed Q using USB. But not directly to my Mac, but to a spare Airport Extreme which I have added to my existing network. I have done this deliberately so that it is hidden away in a well ventilated but secure area in my house. I leave it switched on, but I only connect to it and synch to it once per week. To do this I use an app called Folder Sync, available from the App Store. This is very easy to use and I get to choose which folders to backup. I strongly recommend it.
I hope this helps. …- Answered by R E L
