    Save your money

    • Written by from Dublin

This is a truly terrible product. It is slow, crashes frequently and its functional capability, in comparison to the PC version is very limited. Outlook, the big attraction in this version is so bad, I've gone back to using Mail. Outlook bears only a passing resemblance to the functionality available for the PC. Apart from its capability limitations, it is temperamental when you switch networks or operate over 3G, often leaving you unable to send mail.

If Apple every wants to operate competitively in the general business environment, they need better than this.

A huge disappointment. Save your money.

    Outlook

I can't believe I bought this and I can't sync Outlook with my ipodtouch or telephone. Will there be some kind of update to rectify this glaring anomaly. What's the point of buying the more expensive product? More

    No 'Project Centre'

    • Written by from Northampton

I feel it is important to warn people that Office Mac 2011 has dropped the 'Project Center' that featured in 2008. I was on the verge of purchasing the new version, but luckily thought to dig deeper. Microsoft have failed to even mention this, while bizarrely it has not been picked up on, by many of the reviews I have read so far.

I'm sure that if you don't use this feature, then the upgrade will be great, but if like me, you organise everything through projects, please be warned!

    Terrible product

    • Written by from Bridgend

I upgraded to MAC 2011 for Home and Business for my new job. What a disaster.
Outlook is very susceptible to bandwidth. if not on a very fast network, it constantly crashes. Despite the number of crash dumps sent, no fixes so far in 4 months. After i upgraded my router, it doesn't crash so often, unless i have Facebook, linkedin and twitter logged in using up that bandwidth.

Word on mac bares very little resemblance to Word on Windows. Things are not in the same place and it often locks up while typing and suddenly catches uo.

It's so bad i'm thinking of getting a windows laptop for work. I love my mac for its speed and it looks gorgeous, but have no choice, can't work like this.

I think Microsoft keep Office for mac poorly supported purely to discredit apple mac, but be warned Microsoft!! Your office is not the only one available, open office is free and does what most people need.

Conclusion: Complete waste of money and very expensive like most Microsoft products for what it does.

    Microsoft leaves vital stuff out

    • Written by from Shankill

I recently bought a MacBook Air for a course Im doing. The course involves a lot of Microsoft Excel use, and so purchased the Mac version, assuming it was exactly the same as the PC version.

For those of you out there who require the Data Analysis Toolpak add in for Excel, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. This add is not available for the Mac version, and as a result I have spent a lot of money on software which is of no use to me. What really annoys me is that when you access the Microsoft website to find out how to download the add in, it sends you on a wild goose chase around its own website, only to send you to a third party software provider. Then, you have to spend more money to download something which Microsoft should have provided in the first place.

Arabic/Hebrew RTL/BiDi language support is still missing.
The admins at the Office for Mac Facebook page responded to my question regarding Arabic support. Their response was “This is the sort of passion we love to see! And please, please, please…have your friends send requests to this form so your voices are heard“.
This is the Product Suggestions form on Microsoft’s site. Choose “New Product Request” then write your comment. It can be whatever you want, I suggest “We have the right to have Arabic language support in Office for Mac 2011″. Make sure to click the check-box.
