iPad Air at a glance.

Thin. Solid.

iPad Air is just 7.5 millimetres thin and weighs less than half a kilo. Even though it’s extremely light, it has a refined aluminium unibody enclosure that feels solid and durable in your hand.

9.7-inch Retina display

Photos and videos look incredibly detailed and text is razor sharp on the stunning Retina display, which features over 3.1 million pixels — a million more than an HDTV.

A7 chip

The powerful and power-efficient A7 chip with 64-bit architecture makes everything remarkably responsive — while still delivering up to 10 hours of battery life.2

Ultra-fast wireless

Get fast Wi-Fi performance using 802.11n with MIMO.3 And the Wi-Fi + Cellular model supports more networks for fast connections the world over.1

Powerful apps included

iPad comes with great apps for sending email, browsing the web and making video calls. It also includes apps that let you do amazing things with your photos, movies, music, documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

Over 500,000 apps on the
App Store

The App Store has incredible apps designed specifically for iPad. These aren’t just scaled-up phone apps. They take full advantage of iPad technologies like the gyroscope, accelerometer and every pixel in the Retina display. So there’s almost no limit to what iPad — or you — can do.4

Choose the iPad that’s right for you.

What’s the difference in storage sizes?

iPad Air comes in two storage sizes: 16GB and 32GB.5 The term “GB” stands for gigabytes. The more gigabytes you have, the more content you can store on your iPad — apps, HD videos, films, photos, books, magazines and more. If, for example, you have a large music library or you frequently download HD films, it’s a good idea to consider an iPad with a larger storage capacity. If you have a relatively small music or photo library, or rarely make or buy films, an iPad with a smaller capacity may be better for you. Of course, over time you will add more things to your iPad, so you’ll want to think about how your storage needs may evolve.

Wi–Fi or Wi–Fi + Cellular?

Wi-Fi model: Uses high-speed Wi-Fi networking to connect to the Internet. It’s ideal if you have a wireless Internet router in your home or if you’ll be using your iPad Air near a wireless hotspot in a coffee shop or school library, for example. There are Wi-Fi hotspots nearly everywhere around the world — iPad with Wi-Fi finds them automatically.

Wi-Fi + Cellular model: iPad can also connect to the Internet using a fast mobile network connection when Wi-Fi isn't available. So you can stay connected on the train, at the park or on a road trip. You can buy a Wi-Fi + Cellular model without a contract, and service is sold separately. See your carrier for tariff information.

  1. Data plan required. 4G LTE is available in selected markets and through selected carriers. Speeds will vary based on site conditions. For details on 4G LTE support, contact your carrier and see www.apple.com/ipad/LTE.
  2. Testing conducted by Apple in October 2013 using pre-production iPad Air units and software. Testing consisted of full battery discharge while performing each of the following tasks: video playback, audio playback and Internet browsing using Wi-Fi or a mobile data network. Video content was a repeated 2-hour 23-minute film purchased from the iTunes Store. Audio content was a playlist of 358 unique audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Store. Internet over Wi-Fi and mobile data network tests were conducted using dedicated web and mail servers, browsing snapshot versions of 20 popular web pages and receiving mail once an hour. All settings were default except: Wi-Fi was associated with a network (except for Internet browsing over mobile network); the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks and Auto-Brightness were turned off; brightness was set to 50%; and WPA2 encryption was enabled. Battery life depends on device settings, usage and many other factors. Battery tests are conducted using specific iPad units; actual results may vary.
  3. Actual speed will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network and other factors.
  4. Refers to the total number worldwide. Not all content is available in all countries.
  5. 1GB = 1 billion bytes; actual formatted capacity less.
  6. Size and weight vary by configuration and manufacturing process.
  7. Mobile data service is available only on Wi-Fi + Cellular models. The model you purchase is configured to work with a particular mobile network technology. Data plan required.
  8. FaceTime calling requires a FaceTime-enabled device for the caller and recipient and a Wi-Fi connection. Availability over a mobile network depends on carrier policies; data charges may apply.
  9. GarageBand is free on the App Store for all iOS 8–compatible devices; additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available with an in-app purchase. iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers and Keynote are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 8–compatible devices activated on or after 1 September 2013. See www.apple.com/uk/ios/whats-new for iOS 8–compatible devices. Downloading apps requires an Apple ID.
  10. Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area. Internet access required. Mobile data charges may apply.
  11. Wireless broadband recommended; fees may apply.
  12. AppleCare+ for iPad benefits are in addition to any legal rights provided by consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction. Purchase of the plan is not required to purchase the covered equipment. For complete details, see terms.
