Overview
O2 Pay & Go customers can now enjoy all the great features of iPhone — including unlimited browsing and Wi-Fi for 12 months* — without a monthly contract.
Here’s how it works:
- Purchase an iPhone from the Apple Online Store.
- Connect iPhone to your computer, which opens iTunes. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your iPhone.
- On your iPhone, change the data settings (see Activation), then top up by a minimum of £10 to activate your iPhone.
Be sure you have the latest version of iTunes before you get started.
Please note: Visual Voicemail and call merging are not available with Pay & Go.
New O2 customers
To keep your existing number, just contact your current network provider for a PAC code. When you’ve received your iPhone, then let O2 know your PAC code with this online form. Your existing number will be transferred within two working days of O2 receiving the PAC code. They’ll give you a temporary number whilst you wait for your number to transfer so you can continue to use your iPhone.
Existing O2 customers
If you’re already an O2 customer, you can transfer your existing number and balance by completing this form. Within 48 hours, O2 will transfer your existing number and your old SIM will be deactivated, so make sure you transfer your contacts and listen to your voicemail before completing the form. You must use the SIM that comes with your iPhone.

Call Charges
Using your iPhone with Pay and Go from O2, your calls will be charged at the following rates.

Browsing and Wi-Fi
All Pay & Go plans include unlimited browsing and Wi-Fi for the first 12 months after you activate your iPhone.* At the end of 12 months, you can continue to receive unlimited browsing and Wi-Fi for just £10 per month. O2 will notify you before the end of the 12-month period by text, and you can easily unsubscribe if you choose to do so.
Using iPhone abroad
iPhone is a quad-band GSM phone and works around the world. Before you travel, make sure that international dialing and roaming are enabled, by contacting O2. Also ensure that the places you’re visiting offer GSM coverage.
Use of 3G data facilities outside the UK incurs an additional charge. 1MB of data in an EU country costs £3 and the same amount of data in a non-EU country costs £6. Where possible, connect to Wi-Fi networks to download data when abroad.

Activation
Before you activate
If you’re an existing O2 customer, activation will delete your existing voicemail. If you’re transferring an existing number from another network operator, existing voicemail will not be transferred. So you should listen to all your voicemail messages before activating your iPhone.
You should also migrate your existing mobile contacts into Outlook or Outlook Express on the PC, or Address Book or Entourage on your Mac; your mobile manufacturer’s handbook or website should tell you how to do this. Activate your iPhone
Once you have your iPhone, you’ll need to connect to iTunes to get your iPhone settings, then top up your iPhone to activate. Here’s how:
- Insert the SIM card you received with your order into your iPhone.
- Connect iPhone to a USB 2.0 port on your Mac or PC using the included cable. iTunes opens automatically.
- Follow the onscreen instructions in iTunes to set up your iPhone and sync your contacts, calendars, music, photos, podcasts, videos, email accounts, and web bookmarks.

- - Go to settings menu, choose General
- - Choose Network, then choose Cellular Data Network
- - In the APN box, change mobile.o2.co.uk to payandgo.o2.co.uk. You don’t need to change the user name and password
- - Press the Home button and you’re done.
If you’re already using O2 Pay & Go and want to transfer your existing number and balance just complete this form. Your 12 months of unlimited web and Wi-Fi* will be available within 24 hours of your first top-up or upgrade registration.
