I've used lots of keyboards, including so-called ergonomic keyboards, and this is the only one that doesn't give me RSI in my forearms.

    Excellent for all tenosynovitis sufferers

I have very bad tenosynovitis in my right hand. This Apple keyboard is a joy to use and presents absolutely no problems for anybody who has issues with keyboards which have a lot of travel/vibration when pressing keys

The keyboard is soft touch and vibrationless with a tiny amount of travel. I never have problems with my tenosynovitis even if using the keyboard a lot.

The only issue I had with it is that certain keys are in a different place when compared to a Microsoft keyboard. However once used to the difference this is not a problem. It's also the sort of issue which crops up with anything you buy new so I'm not reducing the 5 stars for this as it's a very temporary issue

I've also had three years of no problem use out of it until I doused it with half a mug of tea yesterday which is why I am here checking the price of a new one!

    A beautiful keyboard

I received this keyboard with my iMac. I went for this version over the wireless version as I like to have a numeric keypad.

Everything about this keyboard is just perfect. The keys are a good size and its a really quiet keyboard to type on. The keyboard is really well made out of aluminium (which is a nice change from the usual plastic). The angle of the keyboard I find perfect and I can type for a long time without getting any wrist pain at all.

A nice touch as well is the two USB 2 ports on each end of the keyboard. These are ideal for connecting a USB thumb drive or for connecting your iPhone or iPad. It is possible to charge the iPhone too.

I am totally satisfied with this keyboard and cannot fault it at all.

    Please move the USB ports

I use this keyboard with a Mac Mini. The main reasons for buying this keyboard were the full size keyboard with a numeric keypad, and the fact that 2 USB ports are included.

Good enough keyboard. Nice feel to the keys, but the USB ports are stuck underneath where they can't be seen! The only way to connect a memory stick etc is to pick up the keyboard to find the ports. This is not ideal. Nice idea to have them on the keyboard, but the location could be much better.

Best keyboard since the IBM Model M.

This keyboard is the best keyboard I've used apart from the Model M. It looks brilliant, works well and is comfortable to use. The numeric keypad is great.
The fact it's wired won't appeal to everyone however as I was adding this to a Mac without Bluetooth this was the only option.

Simply The Best - Get This Keyboard Over The Smaller Wireless One

Received my very first Apple product a few days ago - an iMac (I have never owned any Apple product before, not even an iPod or iPhone).

This keyboard is beautifully made and is so lovely to use. They have clearly looked at the designs of keyboards and rethought it (eg: why are keys so high on other keyboards? Do they really need to have a tapered shape to them? No they don't). The keys are flat and low, perfectly spaced etc, so they are a joy to use.

Why would anyone want the smaller wireless keyboard, when this one has the extra numeric keys and the arrow keys as well as the delete key? It is so much better to use and much more useful in everyday use than the smaller wireless keyboard.

    Perfect!

    Users of 10.5 beware

I use OS 10.5 because it's very stable in my commercial environment. My keyboard 'i' key stopped working after wiping with a damp cloth (beware) so I bought a new one. Now the volume and media keys do not work, which I have found out is due to changes in the keyboard to work with recent OS's. Whilst the brightness keys can be remapped in System Prefs, the others cannot. Come on Apple: get a grip ...allow us to remap these functions!

    The good and the bad!

Love the feel of the keyboard: I can type really quickly on it (much nicer than my Microsoft one).
I wish it had two 'things' at the back to enable it to tilt, however. It would also mean that the mouse/keyboard cables don't catch underneath it. There can be quite a bit of wobble if this happens. Worst thing, though, is the very short length of the mouse cable. It twists incredibly easily and that, too, gets caught beneath the right side of the keyboard. The place where or near where - the cable goes into the mouse also easily sits on top of the rest of the cable, result no mouse. It only takes a moment to sit it on the desk again, but it's still a nuisance. Apart from that, though, really good.

Top row of letters just stopped working!!

Only 9 months old, it hasn't had any spillages and the expose key suddenly stopped working, I rebooted and then that came back, but then seconds later letters Q to P suddenly stopped working. Tried usual troubleshooting, checked forums etc. This is my second keyboard after the letter F stopped working on my last one. Really weird as I dont think I am doing anything peculiar !!!! Can only think it must be hardware related

Bought this Keyboard a few months ago mainly for the numeric keypad for entering accounts info, looked at the stand alone numeric one, but thought for the small amount of extra money and extra usb ports might aswell go with the full version, glad I did what a pleasure the keyboard is to use and the quality is excellent, a good product!

    Too expensive for a consumable!

These keyboards are the nicest to use I have ever tried - smart, tactile and accurate.
If they lasted I'd never use anything else.

Unfortunately I am currently using a nasty PC keyboard once again as my second apple keyboard in approx. 3 years has just gone mad! Same symptom with both keyboards - one or more keys stop working, and then starts sending all sorts of spurious characters when typing. Impossible to put mac to sleep as the keyboard keeps waking it up!!
Plug in this (the one i'm typing on) nasty cheap keyboard and all the problems are gone! :-(

At this price point I expect the keyboard to last at least as long as the cheaper keyboards i have - i.e 6-10 years

So beware! This is an expensive 'consumable' that really taints the general Apple experience

I am having to think very hard about whether I buy another one or go for a cheaper decent replacement that might last longer.

Switched to iMac after using PCs from when they were first sold and one of my concerns was the Apple keyboard design. Went for the tethered version as I use the numeric keypad a lot and would probably miss it, along with the dedicated editing keys. After a month's use, I've no regrets. Feels solid and a decent weight to keep it stationary on my desk; well spaced keys, with nice touch. Only problems have been with me remembering some of the slightly different shortcut combinations, but I'm getting used to them (and that's not strictly a keyboard issue).

Tempted to buy the wireless version to use with my iPad.

great product shame about caps key

ok so i have been using a normal keyboard and i thought i would get an apple keyboard as a few symbols were missing from a standard non apple key, which i need for scripting.

i got to say its great really useful and helps me type a lot quicker with the slim keys. one big problem i found though was the caps key new delay system for noob typers. not a bad idea if you could turn this off and i know it isnt built into the keyboard for a fact as i have fixed the problem on mine, and the the light comes on if i tap it quick.

how i did it i dont know all i know is that i changed a few settings in universal and keyboard setup and then restored them and this seemed to work. so try tweaking the response time of the keys and then swith it off. and try changing where the cap key is on the keyboard then restore it back to its original. thats what i did and it works fine now. once apple bring an update to allow you to change this i will give 5 stars. but untill then just tinker it may work.

Really nice weight and feel to the keys. Looks great on the desk as well. I read in some reviews that people are not happy with its performance when in contact with water, however having spilt beer on it the only problems i have are sticky keys - still registers typing fine. £40 for a replacement not bad considering what such a great keyboard this is.

    Good, but also rubbish.

This keyboard is good, when you're typing, however, it can all go wrong very quickly. For example, though most keyboard ain't that good with water, they'd at least work even a drip were to enter the keyboard. However, the Apple one doesn't even perform the most basics, like for example, typing, when a drip enters it.

And once it goes wrong, that's it. You'd need a new one, which costs £40! For a replacement?! That's just ridiculous! There's a limit to charges!

So overall, a good product, could be made better however.

This is my favourite USB keyboard, keys are really comfortable to type on, it looks stunning and overall is really good, one of my favourites keyboards as well as that on the PowerBook G4 and the earlier MacBook Pro's, only backlight would have been a great addition, but doesn't matter greatly

When it was first announced I was dubious that it would be up to the task, after all it was not a return to the much beloved, aircraft carrier sized, Apple Extended Keyboard or the stylish Apple Pro Keyboard and it didn't even have the full key travel of the infamous "crumbcatcher"

after 3 years I can honestly say that it is my favourite keyboard, once I got used to the short travel of the keys and then go back to the long stroke traditional keyboards I realise how much more comfortable this keyboard is for normal every day use (I'm sure a typist would still prefer a more dedicated ergonomic keyboard though).

Very easy to clean, easy to discretely stash away behind a monitor or on a shelf.

and yeh it looks stylish which is important for a system that's used in your living area.

one star lost because it can, sometimes, if you eat around it get food crumbs stuck between the keys and the housing which makes key pressed a bit clunky.
