Can I run windows on Macbook Air with 256GB HDD?
I'm thinking about getting a used Macbook Air. 13" with 256GB flash memory. Now my brother has an Air but a 128GB flash memory and I can't split the drive for Mac and Windows. Some of my programs that I use require Windows and I was wondering if its possible to run windows on a 13" Air with 256GB flash memory?

Which option is better for a Macbook pro: 8GB memory with 500 Gb Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm or 4 GB memory with 750 GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm?
I am a general user (music, tv shows, movies, Facetime, pictures, email, lesson plans, presentations, etc) and I am also a teacher. So I will use this just about everyday making lesson plans or emailing. I want something fast and reliable. I am thinking the MacBook Pro 13' and I don't need the retina display. I just want to know if I should spend an extra $90 to get more memory or a bigger hard drive or just go with the basic setup (4GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM — 2x2GB with 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm)? I am new to Mac and I don't want to spend money on something that won't make a difference/something I won't need. Are both of these options too much for what I need to do my daily tasks? Also, should I opt for paying for Pages, Keynote, and Numbers to be pre-installed or not? Is it cheaper some other way?

what's the difference between a 5400-RPM hard drive and a flash dtorage?
I'm pretty much debating on what 15 inch macbook pro to get. Also is the retina display worth it?

Best AnswerA hard-drive contains disks coated with magnetic particles which spin at high speed. A very tiny sensor hovers over the disks and moves back and forth reading and writing data to the disk. The technology is mature, and fairly inexpensive. 5400 RPM is considered the slow end of the rotational speed, with 7200 RPM being noticeably faster and speeds of 10,000 RPM or faster are considered "high-end" drives.
Flash storage is like USB (thumb) drives, except the flash storage inside the computer has more capacity than typical thumb drives, and is way faster because it is right there next to the processor.
The difference is that, right now, flash storage gets more expensive very quickly as you increase the storage capacity. On the other hand, the less expensive hard drives are comparatively slow, and more susceptible to damage from bumps and dings.
The Retina display IS impressive. There are articles online showing qualitative comparisons, but seeing is believing -- I suggest a visit to your local Apple Store or reseller.- Answered by Bret G from Topeka

- Asked about: Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac - Stand…
Best AnswerI ported my Win 7 complete with all its applications, and everything works, including MS Office. I used an external disk to do the port, which took about an hour in total, following the good instructional steps in Parallels. I moved my data separately, and sat it all in my Mac folders, so I had to change some default 'save' settings in Office etc. I had to go online to re-validate Win 7. Copy and paste between Windows and OS X apps works beautifully.

how can i upgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.8

Best AnswerNot directly.
You'll first have to update from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8 in order to have the App Store feature. It's the only way to download 10.8 Mountain Lion.
Next, you need to make sure your system supports the minimum requirements. Look at this document for default (remove the spaces): http: //www. apple. com/ osx/ specs/- Answered by Bernard D from Rosemere

Macbook Pro 13 inch vs 15 inch retina for Gaming
Actually I've got now the high-end early-2011 MacBook Pro 13" with 2.7 GHz, 8Gb Ram and 1TB HD, and, (I know, that's too bad) an Intel HD Graphics 3000 videocard. I do not play a lot, but I really like playing Assassin's Creed and Brotherhood is my favorite part of it. However, I came to realize that this game (which is actually VERY demanding) is running unstably even on minimum settings (which I truly hate to use because all of the game here is right about stunning graphics) In february or may I am considering to buy a new MacBook Pro and I am wondering about which of them, usual Pro 13'', usual Pro 15" or the retina one will give me the maximum possible performance for demanding gaming (of course, it will also be smooth with regular programs). And I also want to know if the game I mentioned will REALLY be able to work in a right way on maximum settings. And also, basically, is a 15" retina worth its money vs the 15" Pro? Thanks in advance, community!!!:)

Best AnswerI have a retina and I play games like Starcraft 2, Heroes of Newerth, and other smaller games like Asphalt 6.
Pros on gaming:
- stunning 2880 * 1800 display. my SC2 and HoN gameplays are speckless. I can see every detail.
- Ultra fast processors
Cons on gaming:
- overheats easily. and it buurrrnnsss when it overheats. i literally cannot put my finger on the ventilation part (above the function keys) for over five seconds cuz it is sooo hot
- need to let it rest for 20 minutes ish at times.
other than that, the MBP retina will run games like Assassin's Creed and Brotherhood with little effort on maximum settings.
but i don't think the retina isn't worth the money. ppl say the retina really bumped up the cost, but I say it should be a couple hundred dollars cheaper. But if I were you I would get the retina - so much more better than the 15". although you don't have a CD drive and the magsafes aren't the same, the retina MBP really is the best.- Answered by Doyoung C from Irvine

what type of mac should I get?
Hi I’m currently a student about to graduate from Graphic arts and I’ve been thinking about getting an imac for home but I’m not sure, I’m mostly use it to make ads, billboards signs, invitations, editing photography, posters, signs, and you tube, fb, google, streaming, I’m not sure if I should get a laptop, sometimes I have to show my clients, my work. And it would be easy to take it to school and just work over there, Although we do have macs at school, I’m clumsy and I’ve broken many lap tops that’s why I want to get an imac to leave it at home safe and work from home, please let me know of your recommendations

pro vs air for high school student use?
hi, I'm considering buying a MacBook hopefully this year, it"ll mainly be used at home for assignments and facebook/tumblr hahah, I am within a budget (around 1000-1300 $) just hoping for some advice on wether I should go for a pro or air? Much appreciated!

Best AnswerA MacBook Pro will give you more hard drive space for music, videos, and occasional school work. A MacBook Air will give you a solid state hard drive with not as much space. The advantage to a Solid State Drive (SSD) is that it is super fast, provides very fast start up time and is not susceptible to bumps and normal wear and tear that a normal hard drive would have. If it were me, I'd go with a MacBook Pro 13". Its a bit smaller screen, but its lighter and a little cheaper than a 15" MacBook Pro.

Macbook Pro 13" inch or Macbook Pro 13" inch with Retina Display? I'm a student and don't play games so original Macbook Pro is enough? Thank you!
I'm a student and don't play games so original Macbook Pro is enough?
It's a big price jump for a student and I don't see a big difference.
For normal essay writing, surfing the web etc. I believe the MacBook Pro is enough.
I am thinking of getting Parallel and Office for Mac so would a faster MacBook Pro with Retina Display be better? I have no clue so please help!!
