35 Questions on Mobile Data

It really depends on what you want. Do you need the 4G or do you not? Do you care about a clearer screen or is it not really a big deal? How often will you use the iPads camera where the upgrade will be necessary?
If it fits into your budget, definitely go with the new iPad. If not, the iPad 2 is just as good for 100bucks less. Remember the iPad 2 is only 16GB (unless you buy it refurbished on from a third party). Also, 4G requires a data plan, so keep that in mind too.- Answered by Brett M from Boca Raton

The main consideration is, how often will you be out of range of a WiFi connection, and will that matter to you? For most people, I'd recommend they get the 4G version because they end up using the iPad more than they predicted and *will* end up wanting a connection when they're out and about -- e.g. while wandering around a town you don't know and want a map, or in a shop and want to look up a product, or on public transport, or ... and so on.
Only if you're *sure* you'll always have WiFi when you want internet would I recommend going for WiFi only. Remember that even if you buy the 4G enabled version, you don't have to use or pay for a 4G service.- Answered by Thomas K from Austin

Yes! I live in the States, my family lives in Wales, UK. I have an iPad 2 with SIM card slot. When I go home I change out the SIM card for a data plan there...pay as you go scenario. This was my deciding factor on which iPad to buy. So wherever I go in the world I'll just pick up a card for that location....it's super helpful.

The iPad product line only connects to Wi-Fi (no USB available on the iPad) thats if you want to download apps, music through the App Store or iTunes. But you can also do this through your PC (via the USB lead and your iTunes on the PC) but some apps do require internet access. So look out for those.
I hope this helps.- Answered by Josh R

It is usable and why not? The only difference is the plug point: US 2-pins vs UK 3-pins. If you buy one in the US, you need to buy a pin converter/adapter to use US plug on UK sockets. The voltage on the charger will cover both US and UK i.e. 100-240V
My 1st gen iPad was bought in the US and I use the 10W charger it came with using the (interchangeable) plug that came with my UK-bought AirPort Express for UK 3-pin sockets.- Answered by Zaharuddin M

Yes, the form factor for the sim tray hasn't changed, and it allows you downgrade onto the 3G networks at HSPDA speeds
