does the airport extreme support wifi protected setup? the reviews i read say no, the wifi certification doesn't say, but the airport ap seems to
wifi protected setup can pair base stations and clients without the need of typing
the passphrase, the passphrase is sent to the client automatically based on authentication methods such as a push button, a pin number, or near field methods.
reviews of the airport extreme say that the unit does not support wifi protecfted setup
and the wiif alliance does not list it has having the feature
but the air port utility app seems to be able to negotiate wifi protected setup.- Asked by Matthew F from San Jose

What exactly is the case for replacing an existing wifi router with Airport Extreme
In the UK and France (I live in both), you can no longer get an Internet connection from an ISP (ADSL or Cable) without getting a wifi router along with it. In my French setup, my Sagem router seems to me to give rather a weak signal and it defaults to the slowest network technology. I am already extending it with an Airport Express (via Ethernet) due to thick walls in a large old house, but there are areas with a very weak signal and the whole network is running slowly.
Does it make sense to buy an Airport Extreme, attach it to the back of the Sagem router via Ethernet, then turn off the wifi in the Sagem and rely on the Airport network? Will I gain speed and range? Do people normally buy Airport Extremes to do this - if not, how do these devices fit in to the world of pre-existing routers?- Asked by Graham S from London

Airport Extreme as wifi adapter
I have a Verizon Fios wireless network. I also have a airport extreme I am not currently using. Can I configure the AE to act as a WiFi adapter for my directv box? If so how? I set up the extreme as part of the network but I'm not able to connect an external device such as the directv and get a network connection even though I get a green light from the network connection.

Will I have less wifi drops if I switch from an Express to an Extreme?
I have an Airport Express that I have used for years to connect to my mac computers. Currently I have an iMac with Lion. In the last couple of months, my Express starting dropping wifi frequently during the day...sometimes every five minutes, sometimes longer. Most frustrating. I read about the problem in Apple support and moved it away from my computer and digital phone...changed some other signal features and it improved considerably. But....it continues to drop wifi quite regularly..often several times a day. I wonder if switching to an Airport Extreme would solve the problem...or not.

data transfer rates for Airport Extreme base station?
looking for a wireless router and specs I found say that Airport Extreme base station has a data transfer rate of between 11 and 54 Mbps on 802.11a/b/g while the Linksys E4200 has data transfer rates of up to 300-450 Mbps. This seems to be quite a large difference and was wondering what the actual data transfer rates via WiFi are for the Airport Extreme base station and how do they compare with actual data transfer rates of other brands of similar routers. Thanks.

Can I use the Express as a primary station to give a connection to an AP Extreme wirelessly?
I have limited space where my modem is plugged to the land-line. I want to put an Airport Express with the modem and the Extreme in another room with a few peripherals attached to it. Will the Extreme be able to share a WiFi connection from the Express? AND will it be able to share its connection through the ethernet ports?

What range can I expect from an AirPort Extreme Base Station
My new Actiontec from Verizon doesn't seem to have the horsepower to get to my son's XBox 36 feet and 4 walls away. There are also NAT type problems and sucky tech support. I'm hoping Apple will have a solution.
