older version of airport and Apple TV

I have and airport express I bought maybe 5 years ago, which still works just fine, and want to get an Apple TV. Will my AE work with the Apple TV or do I need to upgrade my AE to the newer version?

    No reason this would not work. While the Apple TV is a 5GHz wireless device, it's fully backwards compatible with the older model Express.
