Apple Remote with iPod and iPhone
If you connect your iPod to a home stereo, powered speakers or TV set, the Apple Remote lets you experience your songs, slide shows and more from across the room. Plug your iPod into the Universal Dock and choose a play list, slide show or video. Then sit back, relax and enjoy. Ready to move on to the next song? No need to get up. Just press the Next button on the Apple Remote. Getting a call on your iPhone? Press Pause, then pick up where you left off.
The Apple Remote requires the iPod Universal Dock and any iPod with a dock connector, or any iPhone.
Apple Remote with Mac
The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It works with Front Row - a menu-based, full-screen interface - to make accessing the digital content on your Mac as simple as navigating your iPod. When you press the Menu button, your desktop fades and the sleek, Front Row interface takes its place, to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Videos folder and your DVDs. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slide show, a home video that you made in iMovie, even a film trailer.
Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver.

Apple Remote
3 Stars for a reason
Written by ZS from GLASGOW

I've had the previous generation of the Apple Remote and I prefer that to the new one. I find the new one big and no additional features have been added. Would have been good to have the iPod Nano like click wheel feature added - however I guess Apple have been so focussed on the aluminium design that they couldn't have bothered upgrading it.
If you've never owned an Apple remote - you will probably like it. If you've got an older one, don't bother upgrading as it has zero, zilch, nada additional benefits over the older one. …More41 of 45 people found this useful

Apple Remote
Surprisingly large
Written by KW from Leamington Spa

The first thing I thought when I saw this remote was: it's huge! Well, not exactly huge, but about 40% longer than the previous generation and approximately the same width. Has a pleasingly solid feel and excellent quality construction, but not ideal if you just want a small lightweight clicker that's easy to slip in your pocket, hence the lower rating. …More

Good Remote
Written by CF from canterbury

Just arrived this morning, was a bit hesitant in ordering as there were conflicting opinions if this would work with my mackbook 13 alu, fortunately once i waded through the large amount of packaging and the very large box it come in i just pointed at the mackbook and it went straight into frontrow, works like a charm straight out of the box 5 stars for apple product, 1 star for the amount of excessive packaging they sent it in, thought that they were supposed to be reducing packaging on all of their products?
Anyway works brilliantly now i can enjoy watching and listening to my music remotely, yes i know that you can do this with the iphone app it just looks so much better in front row, again 5 stars for apple. …More16 of 20 people found this useful

Apple Remote
Great product!
Written by SM from Perth

I bought this to replace the old, plastic remote that originally came with my MacBook and to match my Magic Mouse and Apple Keyboard. I like the fact it has been made longer as:
1. It is harder to lose (a problem I ran into more than one with the previous remote!)
and
2. I have large hands, so I find it much easier to grip than the old, smaller one.
It would have been nice for Apple to add a click wheel type mechanism on the remote, but of course that would have meant a higher cost, but I am thoroughly impressed anyway. Overall, for £15, I feel this is a welcomed upgrade and am very pleased with my purchase. …More2 of 4 people found this useful

Apple Remote
1st Gen users
Written by JM from Nelson

I Just purchased this new remote from the Apple Store in Cardiff. While the new remote is quite aesthetic looking and blends in well with the colours of a Unibody Macbook or Macbook pro, there really is no reason to purchase this product if you have the previous generation remote.
For some bizarre reason i thought I needed a remote that matched the aluminium of my unibody macbook. Now I've actually used it and discovered there are no new features and the remote behaves exactly the same as the previous gen, I actually prefer the smaller design of the old remote.
Save your self some cash and stick with your previous remote, assuming you have one. If you don't currently own a remote; both remotes are very handy for Keynote/ Powerpoint presentations and not just for accessing your macs front row features. …More9 of 10 people found this useful
