I had bought the Smart Case for the iPad 2 and I was in love with every aspect except the price. My only concern was that the Product Red iPad 2&3 Smart Case was quite flimsy and felt a little cheap. On the other hand, the functionality is exceptional and the protection this case offers makes the iPad seem like it was made to be with this case. I recently purchased an iPad Mini and I decided to purchase this case to go along. I have an iPhone 5s with the leather case and it is not only protective but quite stylish. Unfortunately the case does wear very poorly and it is not as appealing to look at as it did originally. But I do not use my iPad as much as my iPhone so I don't believe it should wear as poorly because I will not be sliding it in and out of my pocket. So far (the past 2 weeks), I have quite enjoyed this case because not only can I put my iPad into multiple positions, but it looks amazing. I would recommend this case if you will be using your iPad for work or school because for the style and protection, it seems like a suitable price. If you will be using your iPad for in-house use, I would not recommend this case because it would not be worth the price. Hope this was helpful!!

    Great case

Just bought this case for my iPad mini with retina display and I love it so far. It does fall down somewhat easily , but that is easy to deal with, looks great, and recommend.

    A nearly-perfect case

When I first got my ipad mini, I bought a Speck FitFolio cover to go with it. I liked the fit of the Speck cover, as it was lightweight, protected the front of my mini, and propped up well. The problem was that fit in my hands rather awkwardly when I'd fold the cover back to hold it. Also, there was no auto wake/sleep feature, which started to irk me after a few weeks of use.

So when Apple released a Smart Case for the mini, I rejoiced - I loved the luxurious look of the case and was delighted that one was finally available for my ipad.

After several months of use, I can say that the Smart Case for iPad Mini is the perfect case for my needs. It's extremely lightweight and has a wonderful texture. It's not the most protective case for the mini, but I have (accidentally!) dropped my mini from several feet without any harm coming to it. The cover folds back perfectly, and allows for comfortable one-handed reading (have I mentioned the mini is an amazing ereader? because it is!). And even though the hinge-fold on the left irked me at first, I soon discovered that a small stylus clips onto it perfectly!

Really, my only quibble with the smart case is that it does not prop up well. The only two available angles are really not the best viewing/typing angles, and they do not secure that well - in this regard, the Speck case is definitely superior. However, I will not be switching cases again, ever. It's an expensive case, yes, but why outfit an expensive electronic device with something cheap and inferior?

Well let me start of by saying I like the way it feels on my iPad mini and the look of it.
I also like the stand for it. However I gave it 4 stars as the case looks slightly loose and it looks like the iPad can easily fall out.

Works well but here is a suggestion

    • Written by from WINTER PARK

Why not add some clips on the sides to the folding cover so it can use the entire cover extended to sit upright?

The triangle fold design works for upright position but only on firm and even surfaces. Using the entire cover would give it a firmer stance.

Overall this is a functional apple product but more of that great Apple creativity could be added to it

superior to many third party cases, but room for improvement

    • Written by from Blaydon on Tyne

I finally conceded after spending the same amount of money on finding a third party alternative and bought mine yesterday because i just couldnt find a case that fit my new mini with retina display. The leather finish is beautiful and the case fits snugly and gently around the device. The smell of leather reminds me of leather bound diaries back in the paper day. To hold, the case feels the way you might expect a pair of fine leather gloves to feel to the touch and I cant say I have found a case to match it in this aspect, though I have tried seven before relenting to apple's accessory appeal. Unfortunately, the magnets in the screen cover are weak and upon first use, the panel towards the folding joint comes away from the ipad screen. The rest of the panel's magnetism is also weak so that the screen cover comes away just a tad too easily in transit, which may cause the screenlock sound to trigger when listening to audio via headphones when the ipad is in a bag or a coat pocket and could affect battery performance. As an additional minor irk, the magnets are not attracted to the back of the case, causing the screencover to flap about when not held in place by hand.
I find this case to be superior to the third party cases I tried, but there is definitely room for improvement from a smart cover functionality point of view, because many third party cases trump it in this aspect.

    Almost perfect...

this case is awesome! the brown one looks great with the space grey iPad mini and has a great feel! the only drawback is that the colour begins to darken and wear off within days - if not for this, then this case would have an easy five stars

i love the red smart case. Its light, and protect all round of the iPad mini. the ports and speaker cutting is accurate. The material is the same as the iPhone 5S leather case. I hope this case will last. But the price is on the expensive side.

    Nice case

I've only had it for a couple over hours, but the leather is noticeably of high quality. I only gave a four because of the color options and the fact that it took them a year to make the case. They should have a dark brown, gray, and more earth tones.
