You're all wrong... These are good.

    • Written by from London

I bought a pair of these about five years ago on recommendation from a friend after complaining about another pair of headphones that had perished after limited use.

Since then I have had two more pairs (I lost a pair and bought a replacement, and HMV had reduced them to £30 once, so I couldn't resist)... None have experienced any build quality faults after extensive use (my in-line remote on a £130 pair of Bose is temperamental)... They dismantle easily for a deep clean...

All Apple users will appreciate the simple understated look, the excellent compact carry case and the hardy in-line remote...

Now to address the well-documented flaws:
    - replacement buds... I got some from the Regent Street Apple Store for free... I don't know if that was a lucky exception or something that other users have not done.
    - lack of bass... I agree with the other user - PUSH THEM IN - get the snuggest fit buds and push them to create a seal with the ear... And this helps block out the external noise...
    - clarity... for most users paying £60 I guess that these will be for your iPod/iPhone whilst on the bus/tube and not for studio-listening... I get plenty of clarity for in-ear headphones and they compare well to similarly priced Sennheiser and Sony sets that I have bought... I agree with another reviewer that the only time I notice extra 'parts' to a song is when using higher-end on-earphones in a quiet environment...

[ I personally would recommend Bose earphones if you live near a store as they will give you unlimited replacement buds and will replace the headphones under a two-year warranty... When out of warranty they heavily discount a new pair to replace them... ]

Make your mind up for yourselves but if you get a chance to try these then do...

    Too Big

    • Written by from Lakewood

The sound is great, but seriously, the in-ear design is way too big! Apparently designed with men in mind! Even the slightest tug on the cord pulls the headphones our of my ears. Very frustrating.

    No replacement tips

    • Written by from Cambridge

These headphones are great except for one issue: The silicon ear tips come off very easily and Apple will not sell you a replacement set. Unfortunately once you lose one of the set that fits you this product is utterly useless unless you buy a whole new set for another $80. The lack of replacement parts is a glaring oversight.

    Love these in-ear headphones!

    • Written by from Flower Mound

I have tried multiple brands of headphones including Bose and Beats but these are by far my most favorite. I have two pair of them and have recommended them to all of my friends and family. The quality of the sound is far better than the afore mentioned brands. In addition, they really make conference calls a breeze in an airport or other noisy environment because it cancels out all of the background noise. I highly recommend this product.

Only effective for up to 20 seconds before becoming easily Dislodged

    • Written by from San Juan

These headphones are effective for reducing external noise. However, the effect only lasts literally 15-20 seconds before the in ear headphones come dislodged and external noise creeps in.

I think the design is really lacking on these things b/c the slightest movement will pull these things out of your ears. They really don't fit in an ear well at all.

Sitting on an airplane: I could not chew gum b/c jaw movement will knock these out of place; couldn't pop my ears either as we ascended/descended. Walking somewhere: the weight of the cord gently bouncing against your chest as you walk pulls these out of place; if you're walking and don't adjust the headphones, they will likely fall out of your ear completely within a couple of minutes.

Fantastic sound from some tiny, subtle earbuds

    • Written by from Kent

These headphones sound fantastic. You don't need to be a pretentious audiophile to notice the difference between listening to music with these headphones and Apple's EarPods, the older earphones, and a lot of non-Apple headphones. Everything sounds great and, just as advertised, you'll notice aspects of your music you hadn't before. I did, anyway! Ambient noise cancellation is great, on top of all that. I can easily get lost in my music on the bus, at work, or just outside.

As pointed out by other reviewers, getting a good fit with the silicone tips is crucial to enjoying these headphones. The mediums that came attached are too big for me. I could barely get a seal, it was uncomfortable at best, and they fell out very easily. The large ones didn't work out either, but I found the small ones fit my ears great. The right earbud will sometimes slip out of my ear, though, if I'm messing with the control buttons built into the microphone or moving around. Still, mic and controls are just like the ones on the EarPods and it's definitely convenient.

If you're on the fence, I'd say go for it! Try all the silicone tips out, in both ears separately, and I bet you'll find a good fit for your ears. I listen to a lot of different kinds of music and I've been impressed every time I use these, across a pretty diverse range of genres.

In detail, but sound field is weird.

    • Written by from muncie

This is a pair of good in-ear headphone. Light weight, well designed, comfortable. This is one of the cheapest two unit in-ear headphone that you can get now. The sound is good in detail and balanced. But the sound field is weird; it shapes like a triangle, listener is like near one of the corner. At the same time, the voice may sound thinner than studio-level monitor headphones. But in general, it is a pair of good in-ear headphone that goes with any mobile devices.

    Basically flawed

    • Written by from LONDON

These ear phones come with different sized silicon ear buds, but they are very easy to lose and are then impossible to replace from Apple. I found the smallest the only size that fits me, and having lost one - and I store my IPod and ear phones in a ziplock bag as they easily pop off - they are pretty much useless. The next size up is both uncomfortable, and springs out of my ear. You can buy replacement ear buds from other companies, but had I known before how easy they were to lose, and that they cannot be replaced, I would have bought in-ear headphones from a company that sold replacements. Also the replacement ones I've found are black, which would look better if I'd already got black headphones.

    Great sound!

    • Written by from Waldwick

After a day of using these, I have to say that they impressed me right out of the gate! When the medium tips didn't quite fit my ears right, I switched them out for the included smaller tips and I was blown away. The clarity of the sound is unlike anything I've heard from previous sets of headphones. I frequently listen to a lot of movie soundtracks from Hans Zimmer, James Horner, John Williams, Danny Elfman, Nicholas Hooper, etc. With these, I was surprised by details of those soundtracks that I had never noticed. I have heard others complain that these lack prominent bass, but in the current market of bass-heavy headphones, these are a breath of fresh air. The balance is remarkable. I'm in love with these IEMs. I haven't so much as touched my Sennheisers because these are such a join to listen to.

    Poor quality materials

    • Written by from Bishop's Stortford

I am dissapointed with the quality of the materials used - the rubber pieces protecting the cables where they enter the ear phones have perished.
I paid a premium price - I expect adequate materials to be used in the product.

    NOT WORTH IT

    • Written by from Charlotte

I've had my headphones for a while now, and I've decided to finally write a review because I can't return them and I'm fed up with losing the rubber tips. These are $80 headphones. I would expect for the rubber tips to stay on when I'm moving them from a pocket in my gym bag to my ears. The rubber tips even fall off when I'm trying to take the out of my ears!! I take care of them and protect them from damage as much as I possibly can, but today was the last straw, as I lost one of them while taking them out of my ears AT MY DESK. I've been a loyal Apple customer since the '90's, and I have to say I'm disappointed in the product quality.

    Apple In-Ear Earbuds

    • Written by from Durham

When first used, the earbuds worked perfectly. I didn't use them that often, especially not during workout, and I noticed that the right ear stopped working. I put it in the car and a couple of weeks later I took it to the local Apple Store to get them replaced. Wow! Big disappointment. I was switched to two salespersons and was told that the earbuds were not covered under warranty because the tip had come off. There was no evidence of damage, tampering, or bad use - I had the earbuds for less than 3 weeks. My recommendation is go bluetooth.

    Push 'em in!

    • Written by from Ferndown

I was also initially disappointed with these headphones and shocked at the lack of depth and bass. I then experimented with the different sized buds and pushed them in enough to form a complete seal. The difference was awesome. All of a sudden I got what I expected for £65.00! Push them in to get a full seal and then they work. I'm certain those who have complained about lack of bass and detail weren't using them right. Had mine nearly 4 years. No problems.

    Not the best

    • Written by from Stirling

Received these as a gift and because they cost so much I felt obliged to try them out. For 65 pounds the sound quality is way below average. Very 'tinny' and as the other reviews say not much in the way of bass. I also find they are not a great fit where other cheaper earphones are. No matter what buds I use they do not stay in the ear and the slightest tug of the cord dislodges them so so easily and you are constantly adjusting them. I have persevered with these and although they are good for taking phone calls they are definitely not worth the money all round!

3rd pair in as many months

    • Written by from Stockholm

This is by far the best example of horrible engineering I've experienced since the hands-free hamburger holder. On the other hamd - that product probably lasts longer! Same issue for me and all collegues - left earpiece stops working shortly after usage begins. The sound is decent but in no way compares to Bose high end or similar- those who state that have not tried high end phones. But the sum - such bad quality that it renders the product useless.

    Nonsense Ear Phones.

    • Written by from Pune

Really I don't know why Apple making this kind of nonsense ear phones. Always left ear bud is sticking inside ear. When I pulled ear phone out of my ear, ear bud is staying inside ear only.

Please go for Bose ear phones.

P.S: Please DO NOT purchase. Go for BOSE.
