Reviews for iPad Smart Cover - Polyurethane - Pink

The magnetic cover slips off unless it is fully closed/open in the flat position. I had the cover in the rolled up position and was passing the iPad to a student to show her something and the cover slipped off. iPad dropped out of our hands, dropped a foot and hit the table. iPad screen now smashed up. Student horrified. I'm heartbroken and have a big bill to replace iPad -- I'd only had it a week. I'm ordering a different cover.

I love my smart cover and wouldn't be without it. It is exceptionally practical and enhances my iPad experience. It protects it well, and my pound shop neoprene case fits over it to prevent back scratches if I'm wanting to carelessly chuck it in my bag. Okay, I'm never careless with it, but the smart cover means I'm usually care free.

I wondered why the salesman told me to be sure to keep my receipt.
After 2 days, the cute smart cover was driving me crazy!
The magnets may or may not be strong enough to hold the extra weight of the 3rd generation iPad, but they definitely don't fit the steeply angled sides.

My iPad 3 would never stand up for video watching, and even when typing, the cover kept sliding off.
I have an original iPad that is still without a scratch -- this one fell face down when the magnets on the smart cover disconnected.
The Apple Store manager's reasoning as to why it was not their fault? iPads should never be held in one hand!

For all the same reasons posted here! It would pop off in the rolled position and I worried I would drop my IPad if I wasn't careful. I loved that my IPad went to sleep when it was closed and that it could act as a stand in both the horizontal and vertical positions (if it would stop popping off). Then I found my Incipio back case. It is compatible with the Smart Cover and snaps over the hinges so that it holds the cover on tightly. I can pick up my iPad by the cover now without it coming off. And the colors closely match the smart covers! So .. I'm buying a new iPad for my grandchildren, and I'm getting a new Smart Cover here in pink!

The title of my review seems a little sensationalist, but allow me to explain:
This case looks great, fits great and protects the entire iPad. It even has a few nice touches (covered volume and power buttons).

BUT - and this is a big but. The case is also supposed to support the iPad when watching movies/reading etc and this it spectacularly fails to do and may lead to the death of your iPad. In portrait orientation, it's not great, but almost usable, but in landscape, it's much worse and is too flimsy to stop it from toppling over, which lead to my wifes iPad hitting a tiled floor. We were lucky because I got my foot under it to break the fall, but it could so easily have lead to it breaking. Better options are available at a lot less, investigate those first. This is the poorest accessory I have seen Apple produce and they should be ashamed to their failure to test it adequately before selling it. I bought a different case from another manufacturer and this is much better.

Just got the case yesterday for Christmas it was awesome. the pink cover really compliments the black and white iPads. I reccomend the pink smart cover to anyone who has a iPad and anyone who wants a cute and fashionable smart cover.

I had an iPad2 with the Smart Cover and loved it. I just bought a new iPad3 and a new smart cover. The cover keeps falling off with little pressure and does not even stay in place if you were to use it as a kickstand. I tried my old smart cover and still had the problem. The reason is that in the new iPad the magnetic strip is about 3 times smaller than the iPad2 making it a weak connection. I extremely advice all not to purchase the Smart Cover for the iPad3 look to logitech, they have it figured out.

I have had this case for a few months and nothing has happened; mainly because I haven't dropped it, but when I did the case flew off and the iPad hit the floor and the screen shattered I do not suggest paying 39 dollars for a case that will not even protect it! DO NOT BUY!!! There are still cases that protect much better than the smart case AND cost much less.
