    had to reformat

I first used this product and everything worked fine with my 32gb memory card. I updated to 6.1 and it stopped being recognized. i did reformat the card in my camera (Canon 60D) and it was again recognized by my Ipad 3.. People are so quick to blame apple, when if you take the time, things do actually work.

    Does not work

I can connect my Canon T4i to it, and the iPad recognizes it. When I click Import All, the camera lights up and the iPad seems to be importing. But the end result is a exclamation point (!), and the photo is not uploaded.

I'm not sure if it's the SD card? I'm using a Sandisk 32 Gb Class 10 card. Or maybe there's just a bug between the iPad and the camera?

    Not for Hero3 or SDXC

Cannot connect camera because it draws too much power.
Cannot read SD card because of the format Hero3 requires.
I can still use it as a usb midi interface, so it gets 2 stars.

    SDXC Cards

Using the SDXC card directly in this device did not work for me (exFAT format) but using it through my camera with the camera set to MTP (or PTP) mode and it worked like a champ. Using the standard storage mode did NOT work on my Olympus OM-D M-5.

Formatting with exFAT is for high capacity cards like mine, 64GB and for speed. Makes no sense to use SDXC with FAT.

Does not work with my new equipment

I have the new GoPro Hero Black HD camera with a top of the line Ultra 64GB Micro SD XC and it says "Cannot read the connected storage media". I found an old old 1GB SD card in the bottom of a junk drawer, plugged it in and it works great! So from my experience it only works with old technology, not new technology. My little backup drive and my GoPro it says "The attached accessory uses too much power". So I can old use it if I have old equipment I suppose. I want a refund as its useless for me.

    Useless with modern SDs

Since modern SDXC cards come formatted in ExFAT, this whole kit becomes completely useless: you can't connect a camera via USB, because it (the camera) also gets charged via USB, so iPad will simply disable the port altogether ("Accessory draws too much power" or something to that effect), and you can't plug the SDXC directly, because iPad apparently can't read ExFAT formatted drives.

ExFAT is the default file system for SDXC for its higher performance features and larger maximum file size supported than the older FAT16 or even FAT32. New HD cameras can't work properly with flash drives formatted in FAT32 (example - GoPro Hero3 Black Edition with ProTune on, or at super-HD resolutions, like 2.7k or 4k), so you have to use ExFAT... Which makes it impossible to preview the footage on an iPad, using this kit.

    Works very well

I purchased the camera connection kit for my iPad 2 and couldn't be more pleased. I took several test photos with my T3i, plugged the SD card into the adapter and into the iPad. It was immediately recognized, brought up the photos and gave options for importing or deleting. Once imported I could delete the photos from the card and it was ready to go back in the camera. This couldn't have been easier. It does exactly what I expected it to do.
I haven't tried the USB adapter yet but that wasn't crucial for my needs. If that works well it will just be an added plus.

This product is really good it lets me chose which photos i want on my ipad and I find the best way to do it is to take out the SD card and use that. The picture quality is awesome ever so clear and it only takes 2 seconds to complete one picture and the instructions are well organist and easily understandable but it is very straight forward anyway. I am very pleased with this camera connection kit and is well worth the money. !!

So easy to use, worked first time, import nice and easy, options to delete from Camera once imported. Only tried 720HD @ 50 fps, but this is the most common setting for action. Retina display is perfect and watching on the TV using Apple TV is great for family viewing. Tip, keep recordings short or edit first and post straight to Facebook.

Only works with a very limited number of products, even has problems identifying apple products. Micro sd adapters for example will not be recognised by the sd plug, most USB devices will also be unable to connect including apple products. None of my USB devices works with the USB plug. Ipad 3rd generation crashes or freezes for long periods while using any of these two devices. I find this another example of apples demise and out of touch with the wide range of products consumers use these days.

    not SDXC compatible

This is an excellent device very easy to use
quick and easy way to import your pictures/movies from your camera to your iPad.
very self explanatory when you plug it in, like most apple product this was kept simple so you can't go wrong.

however I just upgraded my SD card to a 64GB SDXC (newer Larger storage SD cards)
before purchasing this card I was unsure if it would be compatible so had to do some research,
no where does it say it is or isn't - you would think it is obvious that it is not compatible
however my old CD card was a 32GB SDHC, (also no where does it say if it was compatiblee or not, but it is)
so eventually chatted with Apple online help centre, and they confirmed with me it was compatible ......
dun du dunhhhhh.... to my surprise IT IS NOT

very disappointed if apple support can not give you the correct answers who are you to TRUST ! ! !

I can't be sure about all the different Gen iPad but I have an iPad 2
so be warn if you have an SDXC (64GB / 128GB) card it will not work

    to be safe use SDHC...

I highly recommend this product for those photo enthusiast
    very happy with my purchase,

not so happy with Apple's support

Not working with my Canon 350D nor my Olympus TG 620...

    • Written by from Barcelona

If I connect my Canon 350 to my iPad (3rd Gen, iOS 6.1) I got "device not supported".

If I connect my Olympus TG 620 (purchased today) I got "device uses too much power".

How comes? Am I doing anything wrong?

If I connect my iPhone 5, it works.

If I connect the SD card from my Olympus, it works. Cannot connect the Canon 350 card, as it uses Compact Flash.

    Please Apple fix this thing!

Works fine uploading to my iPad; but camera no longer recognizes it.

I bought the adapter because I travel a lot. I didn't like waiting until I got home to download my pictures from my camera. My laptop is too heavy to lug around while taking pictures so I liked the fact that I could lighten my load with my iPad. The trouble came when I put the SD card back in my camera to take more pictures. My camera would no longer recognize the card. It also would not allow me to re-format it either. Essentially my SD card is now useless.

When I load pictures from the SD card that has been in the camera it works, but when I upload other photos to the SD card from my computer to transfer them it doesn't work. The same camera, same tag, same SD card. I was under the impression this would make uploading photos easier than syncing to iTunes. Not! Oh.. and the only idiot is one who answers a question without understanding the question first.
