    The End of the Mouse

This is so much easier to navigate than a mouse. No picking it up and putting it down, and if you have a macbook and are familiar with the multitouch tools, this just allows you to continue that on the iMac. Makes navigating and stylish!

I thought the Magic Mouse was awesome, making all other mice pathetic, but this magic trackpad is even more awesome, and just makes all the mice seem as obsolete, antiquious novelties of yesteryear.

I hate the average trackpad on laptops, including my Macbook, but the Magic track pad is the end all be all. Been using the track pad for about an hour, and have disregarded then Magic mouse
    Apple does it again....

Firstly i wasn't too sure about the trackpad, however I no longer use a mouse!
The trackpad is by far the best additional to my Mac Pro set-up. Ease of use if unbelievable. Defo wont be going back to The Mouse (sorry mouse)

Initially I didn't liked it. It felt strange, but after using is for about two months, and finally understanding how it does its magic, I find that I like it more and more everyday.

For example: I configured a 5 finger click with BetterTouchTool to activate Divvy an it really helps to improve my workflow.

A few things: I love Apple product, I love computer mice, I never write reviews -- ever.

But this thing is THAT good. At the very least, try one and return it if you don't like it. I'm a graphic designer and I've had the current unibody Macbook Pro with its large multi-touch trackpad. While it was great, the best laptop trackpad I've ever used, I still found myself preferring a mouse. Needless to say, the concept of putting a Trackpad on my desk to use with my Mac Pro workstation was ludicrous -- or was it?

I've move to a home office and have a lot of things on my desk. I mainly use a Wacom Cintiq to draw directly onscreen and a wired Intuos 3 to control my 2nd monitor (where I keep my palettes) for a mouse/trackpad-free experience. I use the graphic pens 75-80% of my day. A magic mouse was my pointer of choice for non-design needs.

I've always had to rearrange my desktop to fit this need and make room for moving my hand around with a mouse. Well no more!! I tried the Magic Trackpad and was instantly hooked. It's simple -- the HUGE size of the trackpad eliminated all my "complaints" about using the Macbook's trackpad. Functionally, they are identical, but in this case, size matters. It's THE best pointing device (besides graphic pens for my art and design) that I've ever used. I've tried them all, btw (nubbs, trackpads, trackballs, mice). Tracking is smooth & ACCURATE. Multi-touch is ACCURATE and easy to use, not to mention nifty.

    PROS:
    • LARGE size
    • Multi-touch gestures & clicking
    • Stationary object on desktop

    CONS:
    • $70, really? Sigh... I am at apple.com after all.

I finally broke down and bought the Magic Trackpad and love it! I have been using the Magic Mouse for a while and decided that I would get the Trackpad today and have not been disappointed yet. I have little desk space and this fits perfectly on my desk and allows me to use the same functions that i use on my Mac Air.

Haven't used a mouse since day one of owning this!

Instead of trying to conjure up every superlative to describe my absolute adoration for this product, let me tell you that prior to owning my iMac (the 27" 2010 version), I had been a big fan of IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad laptops. This is relevant because I had always hated the trackpads that came with most laptop computers, which had always been one of the most significant reasons that I much preferred the ThinkPad's hallmark Trackpoint "stick" over all other laptops' touch-based pads.

Having said that, I also loved the Magic Mouse that came with my iMac, but it took less than 15 minutes of playing around with this awesome new Apple gadget until I boxed up my Magic Mouse, which I had gotten to like quite a bit actually. It is just so wonderfully natural and the generous amount of 1-4 finger gestures make it much more versatile - and FUN - than any mouse could ever hope to be. I also love the understated design and the fact that it screams sophistication and beauty at the same time.

It is also clear that my next notebook will be the 17" MacBook Pro with its large trackpad, as this appropriately named Magic Trackpad is the culmination of years' worth of hard work and experience with touch and gesture based input devices with the various MacBook Pro's (and Air's) as well as the touch screen controlled iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

If I was forced to come up with one issue that I didn't like about it, I would have to say "Sorry, I guess you'll have to shoot me, because I really can't". The most I could come up with is the fact that it drains the battery relatively quickly. When I bought this, I also purchased the Apple battery charger, which quickly paid for itself in batteries that I did not need to buy.

Go get one! I would have paid twice as much for it. ;-)

Wasn't convinced, testing it in the Apple Store, but took a plunge and really pleased that I did. The Magic Mouse is hopelessly uncomfortable for larger hands and it was only a matter of time before the scroll-ball on the older Mighty Mouse packed-up !

Having had to rely more on my Macbook Pro than my iMac over the last year, working with mice seems unnatural now ...absolutely recommend this ...it's fast and feels less of a strain under continuous use. Get this, and get the wireless keyboard too — you deserve it !!

I recently purchased a new iMac along with the touchpad. I have grown accustomed to the touchpad on my laptops and I thought I would like it. I love it! It responds beautifully and has a huge area for movement. I have hardly used the Magic Mouse since giving this a try. I highly recommend it.

Like Always, another amazing apple product. I honestly didn't expect much from this product. I got it because i needed a mouse (my original mighty mouse was barely functioning anymore). My friend suggested the track pad so i figured why not. No regrets, The touch sensitivity is just amazing. Great job!

I have a MacBook Pro 13' and I use the Magic Trackpad with it. I also own a Magic Mouse.
The trackpad is extremely useful for surfing the web from a distance.
Also, the size of the trackpad is just right- its a wonderful size. I enjoy using it beside my MacBook Pro because I find the Magic Trackpad to be slightly more pleasant.
I would highly recommend this product.

If you have arthritis l like me, you are gonna love this trackpad. Its sure takes the strain of grabbing for the mouse. You can lean back in you chair and rest the pad on the chair arm and still point and click.

    Love this gizmo!

The product you've been waiting for

I have had a Mighty Mouse for a few years on my iMac. I've never liked it, the trackball was always getting too dirty to register scrolling, the left click was unresponsive, and it just wasn't very ergonomic.

The Magic Trackpad solves ALL of those problems and adds a handful of awesome features like multi-touch gesturing.

Using the trackpad is beneficial in other ways too: it takes up less room than your normal movement area for a mouse, plus it feels so much better on your hands to use. The glass surface makes for a beautiful and sleek feeling package that will no doubt inspire you to throw your mouse out the window.

Perfect for anyone, especially those using DAWs and Editing software.

My Story. I really wanted this thing from the first day it came out and saw all the good reviews it was getting, and then I forgot about it. I think because I started a new job as a designer and thought that my Magic Mouse was the perfect mouse I bought one eight hours ago and have used it all day with the same powerful workflow that I get from any mouse out there. The gestures are seamless, the pad is PERFECT size and weight. I think I will not be using a mouse for a while after this great product!

I needed to replace my mouse so I thought about upgrading to a Magic Mouse.

When I saw the Magic Trackpad, I had to make a tough decision. Which one would suit my needs better?

After Apple's last keynote I knew right away what I wanted. They previewed OS X Lion and I saw all the cool multi-touch features that will be integrated into the operating system.

It's so much easier to do multi-touch on a trackpad than on a mouse. The trackpad is larger and it doesn't move around as easily as a mouse. I especially like browsing the web with my page swipe gestures.

    Great product Apple!

I bought it because it matches perfectly with my Apple BT keyboard, the pair look really cool with the 27" iMac. however, it took a little time to get use to. funny that I seriously considering to return it. But after keeping it for a few days, got use to the no mouse click and the finger gesture combination, I like it so much now.
