I used an Alps track pad instead of a mouse back in the mic 90's and have always had one on the laptop that my employer provides. When I bought my wife a MacBook, I realized how much I would love having one on my Mac Pro. I have always used a mouse on my Macs and am so glad that I got the Magic Trackpad. The large surface makes gestures easy to perform, the angle and height match my Apple keyboard, and the click/tap options are great. I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys trackpads. I may never go back to a mouse.

I just got my Trackpad and, although I am just getting used to it, I am very pleased. I like the idea of no trackball to have to clean and the ability to perform different functions with the finger movements. I removed my mouse so that I would learn to use the trackpad without the temptation of using the mouse. I am already getting the hang of it. Great product!

I find I can do things faster and the trackpad can do multiple things that a mouse can't. Not only that my wrist feels better using this device then the mouse and it is very easy to keep clean.

This product is one of the few touchpads on the market that actually work. The bluetooth connection works perfectly and you don't feel any difference with the built-in touchpad. Only one thought: why not make 4-finger gestures possibile?

all in all, great product, works the way you want it to work.

I have owned the Magic Trackpad for 5 days now. I can't see myself returning to use the Magic Mouse again. There is so much more flexibility to using the pad. I had not expected that. It is easy to set up, very easy to get used to. The most helpful information provided with the pad is actually the back of the box. There you will find 12 diagrams which illustrate the motions necessary to operate the features of the pad. Much easier to follow/understand than the written instructions found in the documentation booklet provided. I have a copy of those illustrations in front of me as I learn to use this tool.
I am just sorry that I waited so long to go to the pad. I don't usually write product reviews, but this device just reenforces the reason why I buy the innovations of Apple Computer.

I just picked this up today, very cool. No more scrubbing the mighty mouse rollerball on a sheet of paper to get it to work. Looks nice on my desk. Mighty mouse went straight to the old mac box collection in the garage. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long, for the money this is a no brainer.

Dear Apple - please don't ever discontinue this product!

I don't have any of the wrist strain that I used to have from using a standard mouse. Sure the magic mouse helped – and I bought that too – but the trackpad takes it to the next level. I don't have to slide and click and lift and slide, etc. I went as far as enabling tap to click, which completely eliminates strain from clicking the surface.

The gestures are also great and though I wish I could natively customize them a bit more, what you get out of the box is still pretty versatile.

This mouse pad works great, no errors, good gesture recognition, the only problem is being used to a normal mouse. I would recommend this for anyone who doesn't have enough area for the magic mouse.

Just bought one. Ignore the critics. They're wrong. This thing is amazing. It's perfect. There is no carpel tunnel issue. There is no hesitation connection issue. I love it. I absolutely love it. If you're thinking about it, just buy the thing.

I'm a long-time macbook pro user who recently purchased an imac. I was reluctant to use a mouse, so I purchased the magic trackpad. It works beautifully. For those familiar with the trackpad on their MBP, using a magic trackpad will be a smooth transition.

Much better than the magic mouse. Being a Windows/Linux user the mousing of my iMac threw me off big time. The track pad has made mousing much easier and enjoyable.

    Best £60 I've ever spent - possibly

Like many other MAC users, my Mighty Mouse ran in to problems when the roller-ball got too dirty to work properly. It got worse for the mouse when I decided to take it apart to clean it. I now have a clean mouse that no longer works.
So, as I needed a new input device, I decided to take a chance and buy the Trackpad. I'd been looking at it for a while on-line but I needed to try it out in the 'flesh' to see if it was as good as I hoped. My local Apple store had one on display, so after trying it out I took the plunge.
I've been using it for about a week and I haven't needed to touch my mouse since I bought it and paired it up to my iMac. It's not only easier to use than a mouse, it's infinitely more pleasant. As the iMac has a large screen I have to move my mouse around to cover the entire screen, the biggest problem I had was moving something to the recycle bin in one movement or when dragging things around in iMovie. The Trackpad overcomes this problem as you can scroll across the screen much more simply.
I've configured the main features I used with the Mighty Mouse but there are numerous other actions I now invoke with gestures on the Trackpad that before would have needed the keyboard. So not only do I not need a mouse, I use the keyboard less too. If there was some way of getting an on-screen keyboard to pop up using the Trackpad I could save even more desk space!
I'm now looking for an equivalent for a Windows PC, no luck so far.

    Bring on the multitouch

When I bought the Magic Mouse over a year ago, I thought I'd never need another desktop control peripheral again. I just received my Magic Trackpad in the mail last night and I'm already in love. The fact that the thing is so large is a huge plus. It uses all of the same functionality of the trackpads of the MacBook line, but wirelessly and in a larger size. As someone with larger hands, this makes multitouch gestures so much easier than on a MacBook's smaller trackpad. That being said, the Magic Trackpad really is the future of user-computer interface. With the release of OX Lion coming sometime this summer, multi-touch is becoming one of most important aspects of interface Apple will be focussing on with all they've learned with iPad and iPhone. Having tested Lion with a basic MacBook trackpad, I can tell that using the Magic Trackpad will be the ONLY way to go with OSX Lion.
