Good product, scrolling feature still not there yet

Overall, this mouse has great innovative features such as the gestures that help you navigate through different documents. However the scrolling is not particularly accurate. Try zooming in or out on an Adobe Acrobat document by pressing the alt key and the results are deplorable. But in general I am happy using it, I just wished the scrolling issue is fixed on a future software update.

Love how you can do all the gestures on this mouse, makes work much easier, that is when it works. this think is frustrating at times. sometimes it will connect, sometimes it won't. sometimes it takes just a few seconds, sometimes it takes minutes.......blue tooth leaves much to be desired sometimes.

    Good and Bad

The mouse feels great in my hand (as others have said). I'm giving it three stars because it doesn't connect very well in Mac OS. It connects perfectly in Windows under bootcamp. I have my macbook closed and connected to an external monitor and keyboard, and I often have to open it up, use the touchpad, and manually connect it. I've replaced batteries, but I still have problems.

The scrolling features are nice, but they sometimes get in the way. For example, if you have a window or spreadsheet that scrolls both down and right, you might get both motions if you only intended to scroll down.

Overall it's a decent mouse, but I've had better luck with my logitech mouse under Mac OS.

    Pleasing aesthetics, erratic control

I've been using this mouse for over a year now and have finally decided to retire it in favour of a more precise device.

It looks great and may work out for more leisurely users. I however use it for work and move between many documents ( tables, visual presentations, large text files). A few time a day, i get unwanted scrolls, page changes or other movement caused by an erroneous interpretation of my finger movements. This gets really annoying when you are in a hurry and you document changes page on you. I've tried to practice but after i year this still happens to me once or twice a day.

I don't find the movements you can do on the mouse surface that useful. The surface is tiny and you need to sort of hold on to the mouse at the same time. It is awkward. If you have a macbook pro like me, you touchpad is probably sitting nearby anyway or you can get a separate track pad on the side.

Also, the battery cover on my mouse keeps popping off all the time so i just chucked that in the bin after trying to pry it in different shapes to get it to hold. The batteries stey in fine without the cover anyway.

Soooo... if this is for your MAC at home fine, but if you need it to work or game, forget it. Design has simply overtaken functionality on this one. I should know, i work for a design firm!

The title says it all. My battery last about a week, and I'm using the Apple rechargeable batteries. I've used optical mouses on other laptops that easily last 10x longer than this mouse.

Great Apple Magic Mouse (Except Battery)

This mouse is great. Has awesome features and is lightweight. The only downside is the battery drainage. I have had this for a month and a half and the battery has gone down to 35%. I use it about 4-5 hours per day turning it off after every use.

    It's pretty good

I like it for the most part. It looks gorgeous and works flawlessly with my MacBook Pro.

The fact that it's so good on battery life is amazing, but I've gotten used to the built-in battery paradigm of the iPhone and iPod. What could make this mouse stellar is a built in ion-lithium batter that charges either in a dock or perhaps through a USB, firewire, or even thunderbolt cable. Or maybe one of those wireless charging pads they've created could act as a mousepad to subtly power the mouse?

It's also a horrible mouse for gaming. The movement of the pointer seems awkward. It seems the increased tracking speed option in system preferences just increases the cursor's acceleration, not the base speed, so with small movements of my hand the cursor still moves a lot less than I expect it to. Of course, a lot of this is probably related to the superior experience I've had with my MacBook Pro's trackpad. I bought the mouse originally so I could play Diablo 2 with my friends, and it worked alright, but my old wireless logitech optical mouse gave me more precision and control over the cursor.

When holding a click it feels like I'm dragging the magic mouse (because the whole thing dips a bit) which makes me hand want to apply more pressure to compensate by what my brain is interpreting as increased resistance. And secondary clicking, though not as important on macs, is a big deal in many PC games. The difference between a right and left click in Diablo is a big one.

It's a bit small for my hands. With my fingers arched over the surface and ready to click, my palm floats freely, unsure of where to go.

Good look & functions - bad battery life

So the mouse looks amazing, very modern and awkward.
Its functionality is also very good, especially the scrolling and switching.

The bad sides are extremely short battery like(2-3 weeks with very pricey battery) to few days with cheap batteries.

It seriously almost eats up the battery, and already at 18% it starts to lose connection often. Below 10% it's useless.

And the right & left click sometimes get mixed up,you really have to watch were you click since there is no obvious button.

    Less than I expected

Pleasing look and feel, and good idea, and slick design as most of Apple hardware. The main complaint I had is short battery life. I use this mouse at work for development and had to replace batteries almost every two weeks.
The bottom line, if you are for look, it is a good mouse. If you need to work and heavy use, for that price, there are a few equally good if not better options with less hassle, longer battery life, lighter, etc... Do research and try out a few for your particular use before you pay for this.

    Nice, but difficult.

The Magic Mouse is a good mouse, that's obvious. It's just really, really difficult to get used to. Even after setting it to detect right clicks without the key held down, it was still very annoying to use. It's no good for gaming, if any function needs the right click, because most of the time it clicks left instead.

It's a good mouse, but it could be a great mouse.

Really Apple still amazes us for their revolutionized product the accuracy of the pointer and the click is gorgeous but this mouse is difficult to use because i found it so flat i hope Apple will issue a mouse we can hold!!

Overall I think that this mouse Isn't so great. As just a mouse it isn't so bad. But you aren't paying for just a mouse. You are paying for a mouse and the trackpad capability. The trackpad works on it although it tends to get in the way a lot. Ill be just trying to simply click or just move the mouse and accidentally slide my fingers in a way causing the screen to shift in an assortment of ways. The scroll wheel isn't very responsive as well and I prefer an actual wheel. Another fault would be finding a material that it scrolls well on. It seems to stick and not slide very well on an assortment of materials. Besides the cons it is a very nice looking and helpful mouse if you need it. If you are just looking for a normal mouse defiantly dont buy this.

Design-wise this mouse is as good as it gets, and the functionality is great (scrolling and gestures work well). There are however a few things wrong with this mouse, one key issue for me is battery life. I am lucky to get a week using regular batteries, so I purchased a Mobee charger (which is another story... lol). Another issue is if you play any games at all. I'm not a huge gamer but if I want to pop open Batman and play for a few minutes once a month, I'd like to have a mouse that can handle games in a decent manner which is definitely not this one - this mouse is super hard to control for gaming.

Overall it's a great mouse for very light computer users, but not for users who rely on their computer for any advanced tasks at all.

    Style over Ergonomics

I have this mouse for 6 months now. It works very well with regards to the Bluetooth staying connected, tracking on surfaces, and responsiveness.

It's let down by the physical design, which looks great, but ends up tiring out your hand. The mouse is too flat, the design also doesn't lend to resting your hand on it, otherwise you set off a click. It's possible to straddle the mouse, with your thumb, ring and little fingers resting on the desk, but that still gets tiring.

I usually end up switching to the trackpad on my MBP every so often when I can get away with just using gestures, as that exercises my hand and reduces the strain built up using the mouse.

    Works OK, But Eats Batteries

My Magic Mouse came with my Mac Pro Quad-Core. It took some time to get used to the thinner profile (relative to my corded Apple optical mouse), but that wasn't really a problem. Otherwise, the mouse functions worked fine for me.

Eventually, though, I stopped using the wireless Magic Mouse altogether. It just eats batteries way too fast for my liking. That adds too much to the cost of ownership. Instead, I Googled around until I found and purchased a hefty supply of Apple's classic corded optical mouse—the one with the clear, transparent shell over a white inner body, with the white bottom that says "Mouse" (Model M5769).

For me, the M5769 is the most comfortable, most trouble-free mouse I've ever used, and I wish Apple hadn't stopped making it in favor of the more complicated (and trouble-plagued) Mighty Mouse.

Anyhow, for a company that likes to boast about its "greenness", Apple kind of blew it with the Magic Mouse. If everyone used this beast of a battery hog, the number of spent AA cells hitting the landfills would skyrocket. Apple desperately needs to provide a retrofit kit for the Magic Mouse—one that uses a rechargeable battery pack and a charger that connects via USB.

Argh, so amazing, yet so unusable!

I LOVE the multitouch features of this mouse, they're really amazing, and I love how this thing looks. But it's such a pain to use. The tracking is just horrible. There is way too much friction when you drag it around, which makes it very hard to be precise. The surface they used which makes contact with your mousepad is way too big and the material they used is not smooth enough to allow the mouse to move around smoothly. The next problem is the shape of the mouse, again Apple sacrificed comfort for style. The mouse looks amazing, but using it really hurts your wrists because you have nothing to rest them on. I really hope Apple makes a new version of this mouse and fixes these issues because it's otherwise an amazing mouse.

    Pretty Decent Mouse

I use two Magic Mouse devices, one with an iMac and the other with a MBAir (when at home), both with Lion 10.7.2. In general mouse design works as advertised. Finger swipes work well. Tactile sensation indicating engagement when mouse depressed works well. Device is easy to keep clean.

Durability appears to be an issue with one mouse. The battery cover frequently disengages and and falls off of the iMac mouse, which gets moderately heavy usage. With both mice the double tap zoom feature is broken. A double tap (even unintentional) zooms well. However a subsequent double tab does not zoom out. I end up having to close and reopen Safari to restore the view.

Why not be able to click by simply tapping on it?

I have had problems with my arms for years, because of the constant clicking on mices... It got better only when I got a notebook with a trackpad instead. Softly tapping instead of clicking is perfect for me. This mouse is great, but I simply regret you can't click on it by simply tapping with one finger, as I think its design would allow. If someone's reading here, maybe Apple could add it to the software? :) Meanwhile, I'll have to settle for the trackpad.

    Pro
    1. Well designed with new concept
    2. Stylist

    Cons
    1. Tracking is not sensitive enough
    2. The Magic Mouse will lack (Poor response) when computer is under heavy-load
    3. Just a slight touch on the surface it moves. When I scroll down or up the page, it will have a slight jump just before my finger is remove
