    Coolest mouse ever

    • Written by from Knoxville

Magic mouse is really a magic!
Design is fantastic and features are versatile. In most times, I do not need keyboard because I can control my mac book with many kinds of gestures. If you install magic prefs, which is for free, you can add more gestures such as tip the apple logo or swipe four fingers. You can also assign short cuts in Magicprefs. So I play and stop itunes tipping apple logo on my magic mouse. Isn't it cool?

Also it is robust. A couple of logitech mice I have used could not last more than eight months; however, magic mouse has no problem so far for more than one year.

    Garbage

    • Written by from Holywell

Utter garbage. As always with apple, it looks lovely. And then, after a while... sigh.

It drains the batteries like apple had shares in Duracell. It collects so much grime from a constantly cleaned desk that it's starting to make me paranoid. The bottom battery cover plate has buckled and is now mis-shapen. If you accidentally tap the mouse against the side of your keyboard or something else on your desk it loses it's wi-fi connection and takes an age to find it again...

Thank god I got it free with my iMac because I threw the ruddy thing in the bin and I'm using my wacom mouse now. Good riddance to it too. You'd be gutted if you paid 70 quid for it.

It's got two stars because the scroll function is nice. That's about it.

    Great OSX mouse

    • Written by from Glen Burnie

After using this mouse at home, I find it very difficult to go back to a Logitech BT mouse on my work computer. Then again, I get the 'why is a PC so difficult to use and so slow' feeling on every windows PC I've ever used. This mouse, was 2 steps on OSX, batteries in, power on, (wait 5 seconds or so) mouse working! On windows, just like any other bluetooth mouse, 10+ steps, a download, a bunch of balloon popups, more balloon popups, a failure or two, reboot, another download a bunch of next, next, ok, next, next, yes, ok, Agree, next, next, and struggle to work, struggle to keep Bluetooth connection. This I would not blame on Apple, but don't buy this thinking because it's an Apple mouse, that your PC will magically work better. If you have an iMac, this is the only mouse for you!

MagicPrefs free software will allow you to customize the mouse and pad to your liking. Swipes, gestures, click area's, secret app shortcut taps if you want!

The first generation mouse batteries lasted 6 months for me. This second magic mouse came with my 27" iMac. The batteries last 4 weeks max. I need to go to the person I sold my '08 iMac to, and secretly swap the mouse, he'll never know. Apple, if you are listening, I would gladly pay 99$ for a 6,000 MAH lithium ion equipped 1 year rechargeable battery + dock. Or even a inductive charging mouse pad, so it never needs charging!

Best and Worst mouse i've ever owned

    • Written by from Arlington

Features make it the best, can't find anything that is as easy to use as the Apple Magic Mouse, on the other hand the design is terrible. Using this mouse for more than 10 minutes and my wrist, finger and hand in general start to hurt. And every time that happens i'll reach for another mouse but the other mouses don't do the gestures that the Magic Mouse does. I really hate this mouse and I really love it, I really hope that Apple makes a more ergonomic version of this mouse soon because my hand is tired of it. With everything that Apple does I don't understand how this product every reached the public, to say the truth, even if you love Apple don't buy this mouse it is not worth the pain that it brings. Just use a off brand for now and wait until Apple decides to update their mice to a more efficient design that doesn't cause pain in the hand.

magic mouse is excellent except for a pinch

    • Written by from Edmonton

The magic mouse is awesome, it really is a different experience, something between a touchpad and a mouse, I use both features extensively. It seems I keep recharging the batteries, but that is not an issue as these are standard AAA rechargeable batteries (I am using the Apple charger and batteries with no issue).
The only thing is, since I constantly use this mouse (i.e. more than 8 hrs/day), after a while my skin gets pinched between the top layer and bottom one. I have added a tape to help reduce the pinch burn. I still highly recommend this mouse.

    Very useful and good mouse

    • Written by from Markham

I found the mouse too be absolutely a dream to use, the controls are intuitive and movement with the mouse is flawless. But the only problem I have with the mouse is that its extremely fragile, I carried it in my school bag once inside of its case. The mouse didn't fit perfectly in the case and it ended up bumping around in it. This ended up creating many tiny little micro fractures in the mouse and it now looks really ugly.

The Best Mouse On The Market!!

    • Written by from Hobe Sound

This mouse is absolutely the best mouse around! The fact that it doesn't take up one usb port like other mice! The laser engine inside the product is incredibly fast. Also the touch technology inside is very intelligent! Finally not to mention the sleek design of it is amazing!

    Great Mouse-Terrible Build Quality

    • Written by from TUMWATER

I have had my iMac May 2011 version with the magic mouse since it came out. I love the mouse. Only problem is I have been scotch taping the cover on since almost four months after I bought the thing. I call Applecare one time about another issue and the tech and I were BSing for lack of a better term. I mentioned that to him about having to tape the cover on the back of the magic mouse, and he replied oh I have been doing that here for months as well. Do I need to say more. Obviously they need to pay the Chinese a tad more to actually build a cover that once the little slide gets worn in the slightest still works.

I really like this muse, I was a bit hesitant about buying initially because I read some reviews that were negative but they were wrong. I wish I had bought one earlier when I bought my first mac 3 months ago

    Would love it but ...

    • Written by from SAINT LOUIS

... it will not stay connected to my computer. I have the newest Macbook and all the new software with this new mouse so it should all work great, right? Well I've replaced the batteries 3 times in the last 2 weeks and it still loses connectivity for no reason. If I bump it against the desk at all it loses it. If I'm moving too quickly from page to page it loses it. Every time that "Connection Lost" pops up on my screen it infuriates me. I love the functionality of it and find it very useful for my daily work, but I'm not putting up with it anymore. I just ordered a Logitech trackball.

Awful. Glad to be rid of it.

    • Written by from Frederick

After dealing with the awful thing I am finally rid of it and thrilled to have a Logitech mouse with real buttons. The Magic Mouse is wildly oversensitive - look at it funny and you're on a page you had no intention of going to. I really did try to live with it but it made trying to do anything online a nightmare. It's an elegant concept, but badly, badly executed. Worst Apple product I ever owned with the possible exception of the latest iPod Nano...

Much better than the mighty mouse or the trackpad

    • Written by from LONDON

This is a truly superb piece of kit.

Plus it doesn't clog up like that little ball on the old mighty mouse !

Really impressed , plus it is beautifully made and is incredibly beautifully designed - typical Apple brilliance I guess. :)

    Complete piece of junk!

    • Written by from Edmonton

Mine was getting disconnected fairly frequently, like 1-5 times a week for months. Now it just doesn't work and will not be discovered by Bluetooth even though it has fully-charged Apple AA batteries.
Apple, why can't you just make a wired USB version?!?!?

Too much style, not enough substance

    • Written by from Gainesville

If I could give this mouse 0 stars I would. Just getting one was such a complete exercise in futility, that I don't think I will be spending money on any Apple products for quite a long time. But that is a different story.

The mouse tracks horribly. It claims to track on any surface, but short of something covered in grease, I cannot imagine any surface this mouse works well on. It has two very thin, dull plastic feet that drag on every mouse pad and surface I've tried. The pointer itself crawls, even on the highest speed setting. I've tried it on lion, mountain lion, and snow leopard, and it’s equally slow in each OS. The touch surface however is overly sensitive, and you have to be extremely careful to not graze it while you’re moving the mouse around, or it will activate one of the gestures, or scroll your page.

    A Beautiful Mouse

    • Written by from Sydney

Design is just gorgeous. It's not designed to be used with your palm resting on the surface of the mouse due to its multi-touch gesture support. But you get used to it as long as you're not planning to use this as a gaming mouse. One thing I don't like is the sensitivity. Some generic mouse seems to have better tracking speed. I changed the setting but can't seem to get it right. Maybe the muti-touch gesture support can be improved but overall I'm really happy with this product.

    not all that

    • Written by from Novato

The only software I have that actually needs all the functionality of this mouse, doesn't work correctly, many key features are unavailable. Just spent $2k on a new machine with the 'wonder mouse' and now I need to buy another one that actually does work. I wonder how much that's gonna cost me . . .

    Okay.

    • Written by from LAKE NEBAGAMON

I loved my Magic Mouse when I first purchased it (a year ago). Now, I still love the multi-touch capabilities, but the tracking isn't working properly even with new batteries, restarting my computer, and re-pairing the mouse to my imac. :(

The rails on the bottom of the mouse seem to be useless. They don't make it glide any better on my optical mouse mat. A cheap $10 logitech wireless mouse tracks better.

I expect a $70 mouse to last longer than a year. Especially if it's an Apple product.

Sorry Apple, you're losing business. Just bought a Logitech trackball to replace the Magic Mouse.
