    same snap-off problem

    • Written by from Troy

Yep... Idiotic. Why they didn't make a cable that was a simple USB to pin, like the regular iPod cable, is beyond me.

    weak product

the tip bent and 30 dollars to replace it seems very steep. I find it also an inferior product.

Lousy product but a great box.

    • Written by

    Yeah, mine broke, too.

But if you think about it, this is a pretty typical Apple product. The Shuffle comes beautifully packaged. The design was clearly thought out by some real "human engineering" wizards. And it is about as fragile as a 15th-century Ming Dynasty vase. I just wish to *** they would spend as much time working on the durability and longevity of the product as they spend on the box it comes in.

iPod rocks, but not the dock

    • Written by from North Hollywood

Got my iPod shuffle as a gift about a year ago. I love my iPod, but whoever designed the dock needs to be taken out back and marched on over to Mcrsft. The tip of my shuffle dock broke and can't be repaired! Come on! Isn't that part of Product Design 101? Anything with protruding parts is asking for trouble!

    Serves its Purpose Well

    • Written by from Morganton

I must say, you people really must not know how to treat electronics at all. I travel all the time and I through ALL my durable electronics into one big suitcase (PC, Xbox 360, power cables, keyboard, mouse, various cables, controllers, etc...) and I throw my shuffle dock into the same suitcase every time, beating against the PC, 360 and heavy power bricks, and the thing still works perfectly. I bent the clip on my shuffle a bit due to my own carelessness, but I can still fit it in the dock. I don't care anyway, just upgraded to an iPod Touch. Bottom line is, user-end carelessness is NOT a reason for a recall or a reason for anyone to complain.

    Broken twice

    • Written by from port orange

When I initially got my shuffle I loved it and then the dock broke. Got another and it broke a seond time. I have to call apple now with the warranty and probably wait 11 days. The worst of all is that is when my first dock broke the only way best buy would give me a new one was to buy a new color bc the orange I had was a discontinued color. so much for this orange and blue gator

Demand a Product Recall and Replacement for All

    • Written by from Park City

We received our iPod shuffle (2nd generation) on December 24, and the headphone jack on the dock snapped off on December 27, just three days after. It is a Christmas present for my 9 year old daughter, and we just finished putting the songs on the shuffle the night before the dock broke. At least we got the music on it before the dock broke. This is poor quality from Apple, and if I don't get a free replacement, I will never use Apple products again. Further, I will seek to get rid of my iPod Nano as well. With all the poor reviews on this dock, I demand that Apple issue a product recall on this dock, and replace the dock for existing customers. Further, any customers that had to pay $30 for a replacement should be refunded. Apple is a multi-billion dollar corporation. I am certain they can afford a refund.

    poor design for high cost

ok well when i first got an ipod shuffle for my birthday i was really excited!!! it has only been three month but already the dock has broken.

It was a chilly afternoon when my mother knocked on my bedroom door, interupting me from reading a good book. I thought she only wanted me to do soem kind of chore which i dreaded doing but what she said had nothing to do with me doing any kind of house work.OH no, it was bad news about my ipod shuffle dock for which i kept in the computer room. I was honestly shocked. I never thought that something of such high quality could break so easily!! So when i walked into the computer room to check it out i found that in truth, my dock thingy(dont now exact name for it, sorry) was bent. i tried fixing it but that didnt work and well, now i have to buy a new one!!i mean really i always thought that apple products were expensive for a reason. But really, how bad did this come out to be??? so now i have to buy a new one with MY money that i have been saving up just in case an emergency happened! so overall i think you should lower the price for the sake of all of us. thank you. :D

Too bad the genius that designed the Shuffle didn't design the dock. Mine broke and $30 is outrageous.

    Not worth it

    • Written by from Panama City

This is my second apple IPOD device. My first is an IPOD photo that had to be shipped back 5 months after purchasing it. The replacement had to be service 4 months after that for a bad battery. I bought a third party battery and it now works like a champ.

I bought the shuffle for my wife 5 months ago. The shuffle works great, the dock however does not. Luckily I experienced this problme with 20 days left to go on my warranty. I'll take it back to the store and pray that it doesn't break again.

For all of Apple's stylish looks, thier products seem to be over-priced pieces of junk.

    Easily broken

    • Written by from Corvallis

I agree with the other reviewers that this dock is easily broken. I was fortunate enough to be in Moscow at the time and I bought a simple generic replacement with a USB plug at one end of a cord and a headphone jack at the other end (at Garbushka!). It works like a charm and it was only $20! There must be other generic replacements available in the States, too.

    Ok, but $30 to replace!!

    • Written by from Sudbury

Look, mine broke too. Lousy design, prone to break easily. Sure, some people will never break it as they don't have kids etc so I'm happy to say "Not all Apple's fault" But $30 for what has to be less than $1 worth of equipment? Can't Apple say "Wow, maybe this isn't the best design and good people will break them so let's at least not gauge on the inevitable replacement requests"

(Btw, I can only assume the guys who approved this design don't sit in a cube near the guys how brag about a magnetic power cord and how smart it is?)

I bought the 2nd generation shuffle for my son last year for Christmas. He has been unable to use it because the usb dock is unrecognizable by all 3 computers in our home. I am asking Apple to replace it free of cost. I have my original receipt. Let's see if Apple stands behind their product!!!

    Another Broken Dock

I honestly use my ipod twice... then it happen, the charging prong broke off. And then then apple wants you to buy an extended warranty. You must need to buy a extended warranty if you only going to use the thing twice. Thanks apple.

I purchased another one to keep at work,

    • Written by from Holmes

I purchased another one to keep at work and both have always worked fine for me. I think it is awesome engineering...Simple.

C'mon people! If you leave it on the floor, abuse it, step on it, etc...it's going to break. Guess what...your iPod will break if you step on it too!

It would be easy enough for Apple to make a straight non-dock cable however. Apple should make one and offer it to all of you who keep your iPods on the floor. :)

    Not Good

    • Written by from Allen Park

I really wish I had just bought the nano. As with other reviewers, the prong bends and is then useless. It cannot be fixed. This is my third replacement. I have five ipods in the house, only one is a Shuffle, but it is frequently out of use because there is no charger when the dock breaks. Apple, please come up with a way to use the standard ipod charger on the Shuffle. Customers, spend a little more and buy the nano or better.
