Obviously, when it's working, it rules. Everyone who runs with Nike+ will tell you the same thing: it makes fun runs more fun and training - for speed, distance or both - way easier.

ONE THING: make sure you register it as soon as you buy it. It says it has 1000 hours of juice but mine ran out of batteries long before that. It has a year-long warranty and most of the time if the battery isn't up to snuff, you'll know before then. If you register, Apple is amazing about giving you a new one. If you don't register? You're definitely in trouble.

The best feeling is when you switch to your power song, and start running faster and stronger! Although if the price decrease a bit, more people will buy it for sure

I bought my first nike+ kit in April 2007 from Amazon.com. After 115 runs, 734.48 miles and over 110 hours of use, the sensor is still running and haven't got the low battery yet. I have changed 2 shoes and on my 3rd shoe now, so for serious runners, this is really not a bad option. Yes depending on my pace sometimes the mileage is a little off but that ie expected from accelerometers - this is not a GPS device so you will expect to callibrate it every now and then. I have a couple of suggestions for people who are running out of batteries so quickly:

do not use your running shoe for anything else. This is a suggestion for anyone who takes their run seriously.

After you finish running, turn off the sensor (push the button in for about 3-4 seconds). I have diligently done that for probably 95% of my runs - might have forgotten to turn it off a few times. But the result shows. The problem is along as the shoe moves, the sensor transmits, regardless of whether a receiver is receiving anything.

If you follow the above suggestions, you should get a pretty long life from the battery.

I do love this product, but along with the majority of people here, I am disappointed to find that you can't replace the battery.

This is as much of a warning than anything else, don't try and lever the sensor open with a knife!

I will be buying another sensor as mine has lasted for well over 600 miles, and hopefully the next one will do the same.

While it does it's purpose,like everyone's complain battery life is indeed the problem. It is ridiculous to buy replacement every couple of months. Now, may i also suggest Nike to add a clip to the sensor that way we dont have to buy a 5$ pouch from a retail store.

I am currently on my second sensor. The first lasted a bit over 1,000 miles of running. I now have around 1,200 miles on the second sensor. I don't do anything to aid in extending the battery life. I turned it off once before going on a flight (FAA Rules). I did not want to find that the Homeland Security folks tore apart my bags because of the radio transmissions from the sensor.

I run in rain, snow, frigid temps and summer heat. Never had a problem. This helps to keep me motivated to put in the miles. To me, it's well worth the $20 for a sensor.

I've customized all my running habits onto one easy program. It's great to track my good and bad days. Although a heart rate monitor attachment would make it better, I still get what I need from this equipment.

Opening that package i was just dying to bust baby out i got it in my shoe and i was already impressed i loved it! so i desided to take it for a little spin just a short 1.5 mile jog later in the evening i deside to calibrate the walking lo and behold the battery has died i dont find this to be very amuseing

I've had my sensor for a year now, and have logged about 500 miles so far. I used it initially with my ipod nano, and now with my iphone and it works great. I haven't had any problems with battery life and haven't had to replace it yet. My only problem was during my last half marathon- I couldn't get it to link with the phone and I did the whole race without it. It's very accurate and consistent for me (5'4") but isn't accurate at all for my husband (6'4").

I've had it for a month now, it works well straight out the box, but even better when calibrated. Turning the sensor to sleep mode is not necessary unless you want to use your shoes for things other than running. Also you can get a strap so that you don't have to have Nike Shoes. If you want to run and stay motivated, get this for your iPod.
