I have had one for almost a year and yes, the battery life did go out on it but I called Apple and told them. They replaced the sports kit at N/C and I got another year warranty. I did have my receipt to prove that I had only had it for about 6 months. It helps if you are just starting out running again. It helps keep track of your miles or time by telling you through the ipod. Coolest thing ever!!

I have been looking for something like this for some time, and didn't even realize that it existed. I actually already own Nike shoes, and this Nike sport kit is amazing. It saves me time of looking up running routes online and can just run around my neighborhood until my workout is complete. It saves you from buying a $300 watch that does the same thing, only less. LOVE LOVE!

I basically bought this product to see how far i run and what time it takes me to do so. A short while after my sister bought one and we ran together. They worked great and we loved them. I got busy and havent used it all that much for a while but just recently i have started running agian and i learned it didnt work. Based on the reviews i have read looking for an answer its a battery issue. I also looked through the manual a second time and learned you can put the senser to sleep. i did those steps and it still didnt work. I dont recomend buying this product if you want it to last,

The sport kit is great. Just don't keep the sensor in your shoe when you are just walking around because it drains the battery inside. And if you cannot wear nike shoes, just get a small pouch for the sensor that cost around 6 bucks. I got mine at Fleet Feet. Any sport store carries them. Tracking my miles and calories is so helpful.

I asked for this product as a birthday present having been reccomended one by a friend who also runs. I have been using it as a training aid in preparation for the race for life. I think it is fantastic, it is pretty accurate (I have used to "map it" function of the web-site via google maps to check the actual distance of the routes that I run)following a 1/4 mile callibration. It is a great motivational tool as I can press the button on my i-pod when I am starting to feel tired and when I realise I havn't got long to go I feel able to push myself a little harder.
I would definately reccomend this to my friends. The only problem with it is you really need to buy the nike+ shoes as when I tried attaching it to my shoe laces with a sandwich bag as suggested in a you-tube video it lost all it's accuracy. I ended up using a knife to make a hole in my shoe's insole to put it in. This worked for me as I have orthatics in my shoes.
    Hope this is helpful

If it wasn't for the short life of the battery it would work great, unfortunately it doesn't last that long.

My 4th sensor in 1.5 years has gone out. They simply do not last. When the thing works, it is absolutely fantastic. However, $60 annually is not worth it. The battery needs to be replaceable.

I'm thinking about going with a Garmin gps watch with their footpod. Maybe if enough people use a competiting product, maybe Apple will finally put a freakin' replaceable battery in the Sportkit.

Works great! No problesms at all. Loads of fun and easy to use. The shoes can be expensive but it is possible to find them cheaper.

I was so excited to get this . . it worked great and was inspiring for about a month and quit working. My friend had three that she had to return each time and couldn't get one that worked right. My co-worker bought one when I was raving abuot it for the first couple of weeks and his quit after one week. The website was great and encouraging, but once your sensor quits for whatever reason all of your personal challenges don't update even if you are still working out so it doesn't appear that you've achieved any of them. To order a new sensor from Nike is 19 plus 9 shipping, to buy a whole new kit is 29 dollars. In reading the reviews, they just don't work. It's too bad. It's the coolest concept but it's just got way too many bugs. I'll buy one more whole kit at $30 but after that I'm done until they can get it right. :-(

In the last 2 months since I received the Nike sport kit as a present I have knocked up over 100 miles and joined a work based challenge. The accuracy is pretty good once calibrated and the information recorded and shared on the Nike website records each run in great detail, including distance, speed, calories and time.

Although I have heard complaints surrounding the battery, £10 for a new battery compared with gym membership appears quite a small issue. You don't need Nike trainers as a small pocket can be purchased off Amazon or similar to hold the sensor.

Here I am again at the apple store, looking to order my second replacement sensor... that's three sensors in less than 2 years - not cool and how wasteful!
Shame, Shame on you apple tech's - find a better way to recharge the sensor or replace the battery! There is this thing called kinetic energy that you could harness the power of (since it is in your shoe)!!!

This product was great. I could compare my runs against my girlfriend 500 miles away, the online features are cool, and I thought it integrated with itunes very well.

But it only lasted me about 15 5k runs. Now it won't calibrate? From what I'm reading here, it's the battery. This is bad form, my friends.

I used the sensor three days and now it doesn't work. They said it would last for years. They need something to let you know if the device is on or off and when the battery is losing power. Waste of money and time.

Good Product, Bad Packaging and Frustrating

I recently bought the ipod plug-in and the reciever with a pouch to go on my running shoes. I think that the concept is really good and well designed but I haven't had any good luck with it. I know that Nike is a great product but there was so much packaging that I couldn't get the darn thing out for 20 minutes and I had to use a knife, but I didn't want to hurt the reciever. Just to get it started I decided to link the sensor and walk around the house for a few minutes, stopping here and there. It seems to think that that is how fast that I run. It says that I went .2 miles when I really went three or four. It is really frustrating. The calories are off and the distance. Whenever I have to change the music that I am listening to, you have to pause the workout and I don't want to. I have tried at least five times to calibrate it at different distances and including three times for a mile in a gym and it still says that I have not gone the correct distance! It is really frustrating when all I want is to know how far I have run and for how long. I am really unimpressed with this product and I need that information because I don't want to run on a track or treadmill while training for a half-marathon.

Very disappointed with this product. I bought a ipod touch for this and now within a week have changed two sensors as the battery drains out in just a couple of days.

I think it is hyped and you can get free applications that do a similar progress check

This is great! I have used it for years and love it! I recently lost my connector that attaches onto my nano, so the only issue is that the parts are small and easy to use. But it works great, and I have never had any problems with it!

Well, I really loved it when it was working. But it died after three months. I'm a student and I don't want to be replacing something like that every three months for the sake of my wallet or for the sake of the environment. They need to have it have replacable batteries.

I bought this a few weeks ago. I love it. I have recently started working out again. It is quite the motivator. I have only had one problem. A few times I have attempted to change songs during my workout and it pauses my IPOD. Once I changed music and was unable to get it to run.
The best was this am. I was finishing my workout. A heard a congrats for my best workout to date. It was from Tiger Woods!
