Can I run Final Cut Pro X on multiple computers without purchasing multiple licenses?
This would be for a school setting. I am purchasing/have multiple macs in the classroom and would like to upgrade to Final Cut Pro X.

AnswerYes, you can. You can transfer the program via external disk and then run it on the other macs. It may ask for a verification code, in which case enter the code you got when you purchased the full version. This, (in most programs cases), will allow you to use the file on multiple machines. It works for things like iShowU HD and some of the adobe movie editing software.
Are you using Macbooks or iMacs? either way this method allows you to transfer the full version of the program all over the place. Even to a Windows computer or a Linux if you decide to change machines.
Hope it helps, and i'm not too late!- Answered by Zach T

what is the apple equivalent for microsoft office

Best AnswerYou have two choices. You can buy Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, which comes in a few versions, home, business, etc. Or you can buy iWork for Mac, which is made up of Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, doing similar functions as Powerpoint, Word, and Excel. Each of the three components are separately available in the Mac App Store for downloading. Each approach has its supporters, although I use Microsoft Office for Mac to stay completely compatible with others using Office.

I am looking to do all my accounting, simply, quick booke etc on a lap top from now on, is mac a good contender for these purposes and which mac book?

AnswerMac is good for this. I would get a Mac with at least a 500 gb hard drive. As far as which Mac, it doesn't really matter if your just making spreadsheets or documents for accounting purposes. If you would keep your Mac at home, I'd recommend the basic iMac, if you will be taking your Mac with you, I'd recommend the basic MacBook Pro. For your purposes you won't need a lot of computing power, just a lot of memory.

Our PC is dying - but all of our business records are on Quicken Home & Business. We're wondering if we can find something with similar features that works on a Mac/iPad.

Does it work with an older macbook air?
Some of the answers indicate this new portable superdrive will work with any mac that does not have a superdrive built in. That indicates it should also work with an older Macbook Air. However, if it works with an older Macbook Air why doesn't it work on any Mac? I have an older iMac that has a superdrive that won't work properly because it was switched to to many locations. Instead of buying a new superdrive for it I would have liked to purchase the portable superdrive since my iMac will require replacing within the year and it makes more sense to buy this drive now so I already have it to go with the new iMac.

As many others have answered in questions posted earlier here, yes. But it's not the same Quicken as the Windows one. There are actually two Quicken versions that run on new Macs (running Mountain Lion or Lion). One is called Quicken Essentials. I've grown to really like that better than the other Quicken option, although it's somewhat reduced in features versus the other one. It is simpler to use once you get used to it. The other is Quicken 2007 for Mac, Lion compatible version, which has more features, is closer to (but not completely the same as) Quicken on Windows. Intuit recommends that if you are new to Quicken on the Mac, you start with Quicken Essentials. But if you like tracking investments in great detail, Quicken Essentials won't quite hack it. Still, I've been using Quicken on Macs for years in various forms, and am happy with it.
