will appleworks work on a macbook air?
I couldn't find an answer to this question. If I upgrade my Mac G5 to a Macbook pro or air, will the appleworks be able to work on the new computer? If not, is there a program on the new computer that will at least allow the appleworks documents to open? What should I do to not lose those documents?

Best AnswerDo you want a toy or a computer? I suggest that you go to an Apple store, and try out both. You may find that the ipad is too limited for what you want to do.

Snow Leopard before Mountain Lion?

- Asked about: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
AnswerPersonally, don't bother with 10.8- Snow Leopard has been tagged as a very and reliable stable operating system for many into photography, music and high processor-demanding applications.
Your system is plenty for Snow Leopard but might take a hit on Mountain Lion. I/m running an early 2010 MBP and experienced issues immediately with ML, but none with SL

AnswerGo to system preferences, mouse and check your setting for double-click. You probably have it set at maximum or 100%. Reduce your setting to about three bars from the right. Your icon should now open when you double click.

- Asked about: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
AnswerYou can install Snow Leopard (OS 10.6) on your Mac and then do Software Updates (under the Apple Menu) to bring it up to OS 10.6.8.
Lion (OS 10.7) is also supported by your Mac, but Mountain Lion (OS 10.8) is not supported.
If you plan to upgrade to Lion, you used to go to the App Store to download and install (or buy a flash drive with the Lion installer on it). To access the App Store you had to have at least OS 10.6.6 already installed. However, Lion is no longer at the App Store and one needs to call Apple Customer Service to get it.- Answered by Ewald W from Vancouve

Best MacBook for gaming, Logic and film editing
I'm planning on purchasing a MacBook for use with Logic as well as film editing and gaming. I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money, but don't mind spending it if it's worth it. A disc drive would be great as well!

Macbook Pro 13 inch or Macbook Air 13 inch
I want a Macbook but I don't know which one to get. On my Mac I want to
Surf the web
E-mail poeple
Use all the office documents(e.g. word, powerpoint, excel)
Store all my songs photos etc on it
Watch some movies on it but not that many
I also want the lastest software on it like OS X Mountain Lion on it and the upgrades to that.
I won't play many games on it so I am not worried about graphics.
So as you can see i want to do the basics.
I would prefer the Macbook Air but i was wondering if it would have enough space on it, would it? I would aslo like it to quite portable but that is not a big concern.
What Laptop would you recommend?- Asked by Thomas L

Best AnswerI've had everything Mac has to offer. My uses are about like yours, with the addition of using a dictation/transcription program. I also do some streaming of movies & such. While I have a big desktop iMac, a couple of 15 inch Macbooks and a couple of iPads, I find I use the 13 inch Air much more than any of the others.
It's the ultimate in portability (just as good as an iPad), unobtrusive on my desk at work (where the Microsoft darkside holds sway), and the external CD drive works great. It's by no means necessary with all the developers who let you download their software directly, but I just like having the CD/DVD option.
Anyway, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you spring for the Air. I haven't been.- Answered by Kay J from Port Orchard

- Asked about: iPad
Best AnswerHi,
Currently, there is no Ms Office for iPad yet. But if you need to view, modify and share your Ms Office files, you can do it on iPad using app developed by Apple.
Use Pages for Ms Word files, use Keynote for Power Point files, use Numbers for Excel files. However, from my experience, you will face some minor alignment run and font changes.
Buy the app for USD9.99 for each app from App store right from your iPad.- Answered by Hasliza S from Gombak

MacBook Pro or MacBook Air for me, and what customisations?
I currently have an early 2011 13" MBP baseline model, so 4gb RAM, 2.3Ghz i5. With the release of the latest MacBook Air models I've become more and more envious of their beautiful, thin, and lightweight design. I'm considering selling my MBP and getting a 13" MBA but i'm not sure if it will meet my needs.
I will mainly use it for:
- Essays, uni work
- Web browsing, facebook etc
- Some gaming - Team fortress 2, diablo 3, stronghold 3. These all work fine on my MBP at the moment. Maybe minecraft too (haven't used this on the pro yet)
- iTunes
I realise people often jump straight to the MBP over the MBA for gaming, but for me, the portability and aesthetics of the air is actually very important, so if the air can cope with the games I want it to manage, I'd much prefer it.
If you think I could use the air for this, I was thinking the 128gb model (I don't think storage space is much of a problem? Most of my storage is currently taken up by iTunes films which i can delete and download as required) possibly with an upgrade to 8GB of RAM. Do you think this would be ok or would I need the higher model with more processor power?

Best AnswerNo, but it is a great idea. What will happen if something goes wrong during the install, like a power failure? How many days or weeks will it take you to replace your data? Buy an external hard drive, and open "time machine" on the mac. Simple.

Is there a way to upgrade multiple Macs to Snow Leopard without having to use boxed copies? Currently looking to upgrade around 40 Macs in a school.
Actually looking to upgrade these Macs to Mountain Lion via a volume license, but the Macs are all on versions prior to Snow Leopard. Want to avoid buying 40 individual boxed copies and installing Snow Leopard on each one!

Why aren't there any AirPrint compatible printers recommended on the Apple site that are Laser & Color?
I'm starting to regret moving my business to all Apple products this week if my business is going to have to go back to the stone ages and only use inkjet printers if we want to print wirelessly from our macs and iPads. Any suggestions here are VERY appreciated!

MacBook Air Vs. Macbook Pro- 13"
I'm a stay-at-home and need a laptop to store picture, check my e-mails. Also, kids can do any project on the laptop. Which one would you recommend: 13" MAcBook Air or Pro?

Best AnswerIf the choice is between these two (hoping you have looked at iMac and ruled it out), then only factor between the two is Money !
If your usage is basic and not a high end, then I would suggest air. I used it for one year. I switched to 13" Macbook pro retina , as the design is superb and the newest version is "almost" as light ! Cost was obviously higher ! But the display is just worth it !- Answered by Anup K from Cary

Which Macbook is good for light Graphic Design and Multitasking.
I am looking to purchase a Macbook but was not sure exactly which one would be best for me. I have tried other Forums but they all suggest build a PC laptop but I know mac is used a lot more with companies than a PC is. I am whiling to spend at max $2000 with the apple care plan. I need the computer to be able to multitask for my current office job and be able to run programs like Photoshop or Maya. I currently have a desktop at home for graphic design and would only the laptop to be able to do some stuff while I am away from home.
Please help me I know about computers but not a lot on Mac since this will be my first Mac computer purchase.- Asked by Justin B from Indianapolis
