Which mac would you suggest i buy?
So my PC is on its way out and it seems logical to switch over to mac. This means i'll be using it for everything; that is, browsing online and streaming, listening to the 60gb of music i have, occasionally movies, and writing etc. but also I will need it for high powered things such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Final Cut Pro. The obvious thing i guess would be the 27" 3.2ghz for optimum power, but i also like the idea of a macbook to take it about with me. I might be willing to splash out on the 27", but would anyone recommend anything else? I wouldn't really play games, but I often have pro creative software.

New Retina 13'' vs 15" for researcher using programs like Matlab or Stata
Hello to everyone! I need to invest in a new laptop that can match both my needs: portability and performance. I use to bring it with me everythere and so MBPr 13" seems to be better for me. However I'm willing to pay a little bit more (compared to the overall price) and bear a bigger dimension (... I think that the real disadvantage is the size, since it seems to be largest rather than actually heaviest in my opinion) if the 15"s stronger performance is relevant for my requirements. I will use it to work above all on software like Madlab and Stata to perform econometric algorithms; I need to install also windows on it; I want to be sure I won't need to buy a new laptop for the next 5 years. Is the 13" sufficient for me, or buying the 15" I will see the difference in performance?

Logic Pro 9 upgrade to next Logic Pro
I want to purchase Logic Pro 9, but I've seen rumors that the newest Logic Pro may be coming out soon. I would like to wait until the next one comes out, but no one knows when that will be. So, if I purchase Logic Pro 9 now, would I be able to just upgrade to the next version for free or for a reduced fee?

does upgrades affect files and photos saved on current system?
I am currently on Leopard 10.5.8 and have bought the disc to upgrade to Snow leopard. Does upgrading risk any of the photos or files saved on my MAC?

Best Answer
No, but I'd backup before the upgrade. The main thing upgrades affect are apps that may not be supported by a newer OS. Many - but not all - apps get rewritten for each OS, but sometimes you'll find one that is completely unsupported on the newer platform.

- Asked about: Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adaptor
Answer
You would have to buy a Mini display port to VGA adapter. On the left side of your mac there should be 2 tiny ports that are mini display ports. buy that piece and plug it in to one of them. But don't forget you need a computer cord to plug the 2 together. After the projector is connected to your laptop, it should turn as a blue screen on the mac. then you must go to setting, go to displays, and turn display mirroring on till the projection comes on. then you are ready to go

You probably already have your answer, but yes. A few of the options that I have been looking into are the Henge Dock, BookEndz, and the ViDock. The ViDock isn't specific for any laptop; rather it works for any laptop with a pc card slot. None of the options are as powerful as, say, an HP docking station. You will have multiple things to plug in still. Apple needs to pull their heads out of their nether regions and realize that professionals would like to use their equipment, but have needs for docking stations and multiple monitors.

Answer
People talk about reserving at least 10% of hard disc space. Personally, I'd NEVER allow my system to get to that. It depends on what you are using your computer for. For example, do you edit video or use memory-intense apps that utilise all available ram? You'll want more space on your HD.
If you have any other devices connected to the same network, a solution is a HD connected to your TC's USB which can share files, stream movies etc. wirelessly. This frees up your main drive from media files, which are the bulk of many people's storage needs these days, allowing more space for working files, apps, etc. The main disadvantages to this approach are that this drive will not be backed up automatically by Time Machine, and also it's not a good solution for editing larger files as the transfer rate will be much slower than a directly-connected external drive. If you're just using it for bulk storage, it works well as you can just backup the entire disc manually if/when needed.
If you connect your additional HD direct to the iMac then this drive can also be automatically backed up by TC as normal.- Answered by Chris R from Goonellabah

Nope, no way. I'm sure if someone out there was dedicated enough to rewrite almost the whole operating system then yes. But Lion/Mountain Lion/Snow Leopard have been written only for Intel Architecture.

About vocal effects on GarageBand...
I would like to know if you can sing with reverb on GarageBand?
What I mean is; while recording a vocal you have your headphones on and would like to sing with reverb for added confidence. During the take is it possible to have reverb on instead of just singing dry?
I understand you can apply it afterwards but am interested to know if it can be turned on for the take. You hear what you are singing through the headphones but would like the added effect on top at the same time.
Thanks :)- Asked by Lorna C
