AnswerHey Chantel,
I am a Graphic Design major attending Full Sail University. Upon entering Full Sail, you are given something called a "Launchbox", which includes a MacBook Pro and the software needed for your major. I copied the information about the MacBook Pro I received from their website. This information might be helpful to you in choosing your MacBook Pro for Graphic Design.
Apple MacBook Pro, 15.4" glossy widescreen display, 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, 8GB 1600MHz memory, 750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 RPM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory, SuperDrive 8x DVD drive
My MacBook Pro has been very good to me so far. It runs Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. very well without any problems. I think that my school put together a great package with very good tech specs to fit my major. I hope that this information helps you in choosing your MacBook Pro.- Answered by Khadijah P from Reynoldsburg

What does configurable to 768GB on a new Mac Powerbook mean?
Ad on your website shows Flashdrive capacity of 500GB, "configurable" to 768GB. What's that mean?

Best AnswerIt means that you have the opportunity to select a different SSD when buying the laptop. The Retina MacBook Pro is available with a 512GB of Flash Storage, or you can purchase it with the larger 768GB Flash storage.

Mac book pro or air?? High school student, with a budget!! Please help!!

AnswerLook, i've been into this confusing dilemma before!
After SO many comparisons, i've decided to go for the baseline pro and upgrade it to 128 Vertex 4, then just sell the existing HDD or replace it with the the optical drive (one does not simply use one now).
My thoughts about the macbook air is thatv you simply get a macbook pro, throw some stuff out of it like Optical Drive, Ethernet, FireWire, and throw 0,7 GHz of Processor as well as battery indicator and the fact that it's upgradable.
While, when you buy the Air you only gain SSD, which can be futurely or instantly upgraded.
The Weight of the Pro is SO light compared to the average HP laptop!
Think about it, Ethernet is 3x faster than wireless, Processor is the heart of the computer ans no other part is simply more important!
Battery Indicator is very cool indeed!
What if it pops up into your mind to do a video project with your family and friends, what do you tell them?

Which MacBook Pro should I buy?
Hi! I am planning to buy a new computer this summer, a MacBook Pro actually. However, I am stuck in deciding whether i should buy the 15" MacBook Pro or the 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display. I wanted to buy the one with Retina display because of the higher resolution, being 2880x1800. Also, it has a flash storage rather than a hard drive, so there are no moving parts, meaning no sound. They both exhibit a quad-core processor. But the MacBook Pro with Retina display is 25% thinner than the 15" MacBook Pro. However, the MacBook Pro with Retina display 2 thunderbolt ports, 2 USB 3 ports, Headphone jack, an HDMI port, a MagSafe 2 connection, and an SDXC card slot. This MacBook does not have a SuperDrive to play/run CD's or DVD's or any disks. The 15" MacBook Pro DOES have a SuperDrive, along with a Gigabit Ethernet port, FireWire and thunderbolt port. (I use Wi-Fi, so not to significant) The MacBook Pro with retina display would cost me about $2,117, and the 15" MacBook Pro would cost me around $1,800, both of which i can afford, so $$ will not be a problem. I just want to make sure i pick the right computer. Which has more tech specs?

What is the best processor speed/processor type for MacBook Air? Which is the best operating system?

AnswerI think you'd be okay with the standard processor, but if you're willing to spend an extra $150 go with the upgraded one. As for operating system, I'd stay with OS X if I were a novice; But if you're not, you could always triple-boot with OS X, Windows, & Linux. I, myself, would prefer having all three installed, but you can test out all three and see which one suits yourself, as they can be a bit different. But in the long run, I'd stay with OS X, as it is UNIX-based (Linux is UNIX-like, so you might be able to compile some Linux programs under the correct circumstances.) and many apps are ported for Mac OS X and you can install WINE to run some Windows programs.

Macbook Pro or iMac
So I already have a Macbook Pro, but the thing is it currently runs on Leopard. I bought this 15 in Macbook Pro when Leopard first came out, so it has some years under its belt. Also, it is a little banged up and has a couple malfunctions and complications, but overall as my only computer it seems to work just fine.
Now my parents are willing to get me a new Macbook Pro with all new upgrades and features on it, but that would mean I would have a Macbook Pro OS X 10.5 and Macbook Pro OS X 10.8. Which to me seems a little redundant since I can order Snow Leopard and just upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Or my parents are willing to get me an iMac 27-in 2.7 GHz which is something I've wanted for a while now, but obviously this computer doesn't have portability. So would you get another Macbook Pro 15-in 2.3 GHz that is basically newer or iMac 27-in 2.7 GHz? Anything I might be overlooking that could change my mind?- Asked by Mitchell E P from Los Angeles

AnswerYour answer depends entirely on your needs. Do you need a mac desktop? If so then buy the iMac. Do you plan on travelling a lot or just going out frequently where you need a laptop? then a 15 inch macbook pro is the better buy.
One piece of information worth noting is the software itself. When OSX 10.7 came out, rosetta was completely removed from the operating system. If you use powerpc software, it will no longer work in 10.7 or 10.8. For that reason alone it may be worth keeping your old macbook and just getting an iMac.- Answered by Kevin L from Markham

i5 vs i7 13" macbook pro for gaming
Hi, im a college student and i am thinking on buying one of those new 2012 macbook pro's. I would use it primarily for college work / internet / Recording and some stuff on garage band via Apogee one, The thing is i like to play modern games once in a while but i cannot afford the 15" pro so do you think the I7 would make such a huge difference that would justify the extra euros? Or do you think that between the I5 and the i7 there is not a big differece because gaming is neither good in one of them and that i should stick with the i5 cheaper version?
Thank you for your time- Asked by Diogo F

Best AnswerFor gaming you really want a dedicated graphics chip - these are only in the 15" models, so realistically the different between the i5 and i7 will be small, as you'll be limited by the Intel graphics engine which is the same with both processor options.

AnswerHow much are you planning to carry the laptop? The 15" is heavier than the 13". One idea is to hook up a 20" or larger monitor at home with the laptop, and then take the 13" with you when you need it.

Should I get a 2012 iMac or a 2011 iMac?
I have been looking at the new 21.5" iMacs. But I have been told that they are actually worse than the old 21.5" iMacs. What are your opinions and is the new one worth it? Are the specs any worse? or better?
NOTE: I am a high school student working a part time job so price is a big factor. I do a little video editing. I work with photoshop doing some photo editing.- Asked by Kevin L from Indianola

I want to buy a family laptop...
I want to buy a laptop for gaming storing music and photos and videos. And I want it to be a MacBook pro. Please help!

AnswerIf its for gaming at all go with a 15 inch. If you've got the money go for the retina. However if you have a lot of storage needs (movies, music, pictures) then youll need to upgrade the jarddrive which is expensive on the retina because it uses flash storage. So just stick with the second configuration of the normal 15 for gaming and lots of storage.
