Compatible with all recent Macs?
Is this compatible with all recent Macs, or is it like earlier USB SuperDrives in that it is modded to only work with Macs that don't have an optical drive (MacBook Air, Mac mini Server, and now, the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display)?

Want to create a wireless network, therefore, I would like to somehow plug the superdrive to a usb hub that can be reached wirelessly. Can it be done?
My thing is to create a wireless network where I can plug all the devices such as printer, superdrive, external hard drive to a hub that can be accessed wirelessly....so far I know that my printer can be thru the Airport express, however, I dont know if it can be done with the superdrive and the ext Hard drive. It would be so cool and super easy if this can be done so I can just roam around my house with my Macbook air, sit and work on my mac mini and just lets say play a movie thru mirroring on apple TV by wirelessly using the superdrive instead of having to plug it to the macs...am I too far advenced for this technology or is this just wishful thinking....???

will the apple USB Superdrive work with the new ipad
So, if you have a female USB port that attaches to the iPAD, the USB Superdrive would work with the iPAD, yes? It looks like that's the only reason it doesn't work w/ iPad. I have such a cable.

Is the usb superdrive compatible with a MacBook Pro 2007 ? My MBP has what appears to be infamous issues with reading DVDs
I have a MBP 3.1 (late 2007) and have had issues for the past year with reading DVDs. On researching this I am not alone, and it is not a cleaning issue and I ave ret the PRAM and SMC already !
I was going to bring it in for repair or follow some of the suggestions that are out there, which range from turning the machine on its left side to loosening the mounting brackets and of course replacing it. All come with mixed success.
My strategy in my head would be to buy a USB SuperDrive to use until I buy a new MBP. That way it can be used for my next device in a year or so instead of investing time and money to get this one fixed when I use DVDs rarely but it is annoying when I try to watch or burn them.- Asked by Erik D from Rye Brook

Can I link to the SuperDrive in my existing MacBook Pro with my MacBook Pro with retina display?
I have an early 2006 MacBook Pro, and I am waiting to receive my MacBook Pro with retina display. Will I be able to wirelessly access discs through that SuperDrive or do I need to buy an external one? I know you can link to ones in iMacs, but am not sure if the same is true for MacBook Pros.
