Is it possible to connect an ipad to the internet via an ethernet connection only?
I often work in locations where there is internet access but no wireless nor cellular connectivity. I am considering purchasing a new ipad because of it's facetime feature, but if I can't connect it to ethernet it may not be reasonable.

No,
The New iPad does not have any physical ethernet connection or adapter to suit a wired connection. WiFi or Cellular data is the only 2 ways The New iPad can connect to the internet. An Airport Express can create a quick Wi-Fi hotspot using your ethernet cable.- Answered by Ivan P from Woodside
