I tried the Amazon Basic DVD drive, but the speed is so slow that I had to return it. The Apple USB SuperDrive doesn't have this problem, though.

Seriously. The retina display has a resolution of 2880 x 1800. I think it's time for 1080p viewability.

Although it still irks me that such a device is even necessary in this day and age. Sure improved portability is a nice feature but taking away the optical disk drive to do so seems silly. Overall no complaints, however.

The cord is really short so if you want to watch a movie on it you have to have your computer sitting stationary somewhere. The biggest problem I had with it was the fact that it is not compatible with Blu-Ray. I have a retina computer that is capable of the resolution of Blu-Ray but the cd drive is not compatible to play the disc.

The only good use I have gotten out of it is that I can play and burn CD's.

At least I was able to salvage my disc, II can get it to eject the disc by turning it upside down.

Again, as others have pointed out, for half the price you can get one that works, works well, and lasts.

Clearly, Apple quality died with Steve Jobs.
