    Hi,

    This is an amazing display.
two things I would love to see:

    1. Antiglare option.
    2. Thunderbolt.

With those it can get 5 stars!!!

I love this display. It's sharper and more vivid than anything I've used before. As for the gloss, I was a bit worried about it. But it hasn't been a problem at all. I think whoever has a glare problem needs to adjust the lighting their room/office. I'm very, very pleased with the results!

The clarity and brightness of the picture, and simplicity in setting it up, makes this monitor the best i've ever owned.

A beautiful addition to my desktop.

The 27" Cinema Display is easily the best display for any Mac. The gloss screen makes the resolution seem higher than on the antiglare displays. Highly recommended, pick one up!!!

I got a 27" iMac with this kind of display. The glossy was anoying but just for a week, today I do not tell. I have an 30" apple cinema display by my side and I like better the 27".

I do believe is way too expensive still, again, I have the 27" iMac, not the 27" display alone. I would pay $700 for the 27" display, but not $900, I rather get another 30" if that is the case.

    Cables are too short

The cables from the new 27 inch Cinema display are too short to reach my mac pro at a reasonable distance away, I have had to buy extension cables, also it's incompatibility with older macbook pro's is irritating.

    love it!

    • Written by from Auckland

I use it mainly for video editing and in a dimly lit room. Reflection isn't a problem at all.
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because of the 3 inputs needed to connect it to my laptop. Admittedly 1 powers both the the laptop and the monitor (which is great by the way) but it would look much cleaner with maybe just power and a second multi purpose connection....
Otherwise fantastic and a real talking point when others see it for the first time!

    27 inch LED Cinema Display

This display is absolutely stunning. Fantastic. If you have been thinking of getting a monitor to use with your Macbook but have been put off by the price, then wait no more my friend! I eventually gave in and bought a 27" display last weekend and now wish I had bought it when they were introduced. It was easy to install and configure and what a difference it has made. Even the built-in speakers sound great. I look for reasons to go and use the Mac now just so I can use this gorgeous display. Easily five stars.

Gloss 27 inch is not good for eye health. Apple please make it matte.

    PROS: looks nice, good colors
CONS: it's glossy - which means you can see yourself in it all the time and all the reflections in the room. That's not good for the eyes at all!

One thing is when you have glossy screen on MacBooks, or IPads, which have smaller screens - it is fine... but 27 inch and gloss?

Apple, please manufacture this 27 inch monitor with matte screen!

I purchased the Display for my Macbook because I was tired of being crammed with the small area of My 13" Unibody Macbook. I bought this, set it up and loved it. I unfortunately had to purchase a keyboard and a mouse with this, but decided this would be a better investment than purchasing an iMac with a 'display in' capability because I use my laptop for everything.

With all this being said, in my opinion it is overpriced highly, but then again all LED monitors are because they are just becoming on the market. I purchased the refurbished one with around 150.00 dollars saved (so beautiful, do this!).

One thing I don't like is the fact that it has SUCH A SHORT POWER CORD. Why? But I guess that's why they make extension cords, won't be buying that from Apple (Joke, they don't have them but if they did it would be 49.99). Apple is expensive, but I have always paid the price because these really are the best of the best you can buy.

    Thanks for reading!

    Great monitor

This monitor is fantastic and completes the perfect setup with MacBook Pro, Magic Mouse and extended flat keyboard. I use it primarily for programming but also do a lot of graphics and this is by far the best setup I've used for either purpose. Perhaps this marks me as an amateur rather than a professional, but I find the glossy screen exquisite and clear and have never had any problem with it apart from the occasional dropout for a second. My wife and I have three of these things between us (home and work in different cities) and I'm often tempted to buy another - working without one is no longer palattable.

    Worth the Price

I upgraded from a 20-inch cinema display and all I can say is wow. This thing puts any other display I have seen to shame. For one, the gloss enhances the clarity and hasn't proven to be an issue because it can get so bright that it can overpower any reflection you throw on it. The design is great and the crispness and color is unparalleled by any other comparably priced display I've seen. I will say that you can get this to work with computers that do not support Thunderbolt or Mini Display Port with a converter. I used a dual-link DVI converter and no resolution has been lost. It is important that you use a DUAL link and not single link DVI converter because it won't carry the full 2560x1440 resolution. I don't recommend this for the casual web surfer, it is a luxury for those of us who use computers extensively in design and video. The added resolution provides digital elbow room that allows you to keep many applications running simultaneously without needing to constantly minimize and hide other windows. Despite the price (and I don't make a whole lot of money) I have absolutely no regrets. Period.

After a hard work day, this has to be the absolutely best marriage to my 11" Mac Air imaginable. As expected, hook-up is seamless straight away out of the box + all the wires are there. The three-way wire bundle even has extra reinforcement for any friction the cable may encounter if you choose to route it through the hole situated in the back the monitor base! In the usual Apple fashion, the monitor case has a beautiful smooth aluminum brushed finish along the edges and back, (except for the black Apple logo centered in the back which doesn't appear to light up). The front borders of the stunning display have an approx. 1" black border along the both sides and top, and a 1-3/8" border along the bottom. Interestingly as well, there are several evenly spaced magnets inside of this border too?! Six along the top front edge, three on each side front edge, and four on the bottom front edge. I found a paperclip w/6 pages easily holding up... The glossy screen I prefer when working with photos and video, so this is not a problem for me. Also, being able to control the light source and moving it or me to be either behind or at worse angled far enough away to not cause problems. Perhaps the magnets could be used to rig up a hood of some sort for you folks who can't? It seems to me entirely unfair to rate this beautiful monitor low due to physical conditions outside of its control.

    Great Display with short cords

Cannot say enough about the capabilities of these displays. But PLEASE make the cord longer. Using these with a MacPro, there is really not enough cord to run it to a system on the floor or mounted underneath a desk.

    Amazing Display.

First off, its amazing, and I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the gloss. In my opinion the gloss makes this monitor even more aesthetically pleasing.

It's absolutely perfect for me as a web developer as I want to be able to work on the go, but still want a lot of screen space. Speakers are pretty good, iSight is a plus and the 3 USB ports make this monitor worth it's $1000 price tag! I can now connect my iPhone dock, and external hard drive to the monitor as I only use them at home and not have to worry about disconnecting them every time I take my laptop somewhere.

Buy this monitor, you won't regret it, especially if you want the flexibility of a notebook, and the screen of an iMac.

I've had the new display for a week. Before, I had separate speakers and microphone. It's nice to have those built in. Playing DVD's is a real pleasure, the image is a lot crisper than on my old Apple display. I like that the display options are far greater and I can rotate the screen if I need to. The speakers are surprisingly powerful. Face Time is a real pleasure. People are complaining about the glare, I have a MacBook Pro with the same gloss--don't have any problems doing my work on it. If I have to pick on something, it would have to be that I'd like to test it with Blu-Ray. Until then, I'll use the HD option via iTunes. It also generates less heat than my old model. So this gets a very big thumbs up from me to Steve, Jonathan and the design team! THANKS! ☺

Great form factor. Shame about the gloss. Apple has abandoned those who want a pro display for photography editing. If only Eizo could slot their product n an Apple chassis.
