Buying my first Mac: Air, Pro or iMac?

I have been wanting to buy a Mac for the longest time but due to insufficient funds I havent been able to. I am now able to buy my long awaited Mac but am un-familiarized with the big differences between sizes and etc.

What is the best one to suit me?
I use Photoshop, plan to use Final Cut Pro X, Microsoft programs and just browse the web, keep my music, photos, videos and whatever anyone uses for a computer.

The cheapest Mac looks ideal for $ but will that be enough for the programs to work how they're supposed to? I dont want to get a new Mac with all this new stuff and have it work slow so I wanted to make the right choice

(I'd prefer an Air or Pro for the portability but iMac isn't necessarily out of the question)

Is the new 11 inch Macbook Air capable of supporting Mainstage?

If I'm only using my Mac for document editing and Mainstage for my performance, do you think the new Macbook air 1.7 GHz is capable of handling them? Thanks.
