Works okay, for about a year ...

    • Written by from Mountain View

I was satisfied with this charger, which I used both in my car and occasionally at work, for close to a year.

Then I started to see error messages (using the car charger) that stated that the charger was not a supported accessory. If I jiggled the cable, took it out and replaced it, or unplugged the entire unit, the error message would often go away and the unit would charge. But sometimes, I simply could not get the charger to work.

Then the same messages started showing up while I was using the wall charger.

About 16 months after purchase, the unit stopped working in my car - even with jiggling. A week later, the wall unit stopped working as well.

I now have to buy another charger, and my phone still looks new.

I am very careful and gentle with my things - they usually last a very long time.

I do not recommend this product.

    Poor design

    • Written by from Maidstone

I brought this pair if chargers thinking I could save money on buying two separate ones, big mistake!

Mains charger is ok and ample enough for the iPad, although the Griffin version of the dock plug is quite bulky and doesn't fit through the base of my iPhone case. But I have loads of Apple leads that do, so no real problem.

But the miniature car charger is next to impossible to remove from the car's accessory socket once inserted. There is nothing to grip or hold on to in order to pull it back out. I had to use a screwdriver in the end to lever it out, and damaged the casing. So I doubt very much I'll get a refund.

    Simple and rugged charger

I've had mine for about 3 years and like the small form factor and charge indicators. Cables and car charger have survived much abuse.

    Griffin mini car charger

    • Written by from Chulmleigh

Once you have pushed this mini car charger into the socket you will struggle to ever remove it. There's nothing to grip hold of without damaging the charger or your car's charging socket by using pliers or some sort of tool. In addition it looks squat and ugly.

You will wish that you had not wasted your money. Avoid this product at all costs!!

    Works but...

    • Written by from Ada

I bought this for a roadtrip and liked the fact that it came with both a car and wall charger. It works fine, though my phone does get hot when charging in the car. My biggest complaint though has to do with the fact that upon opening the charger and testing it the black face plate fell off instantly. Poor quality but it still works. For the cost ($39.95) I would have expected it to hold together for at least an hour but no such luck.

    Product Failure

I have gone through 2 of these chargers in less than one year, as the chord seems to fail for whatever reason. I DO NOT recommend this product.

    Not happy

I must blame myself for going the cheaper route. I plugged the charger into a socket at work and it started making crackling noises the USB car charger port broke apart the wall charger only worked in random sockets and it completely stopped working after only a few months. Apples been great to me I'm going still going to shop apple for a new charger but this particular product I was completely unsatisfied with.
