Optional remote control & built-in mic?

From the name of the product, it said that it is equipped with remote control and mic. But from the description, it seems that it needs an optional remote control and yet there is a built microphone. Does it mean I have to buy an optional remote control?

    In the picture, you can see a black fob attached to the headphone cable. The yellow button does the same job as the remote on the Apple headphones: it has three buttons, two of which let you adjust the volume up/down, the third is the stop/start/skip control. Press it once to stop/start, double-press it to skip to the next track.

    The remote works with my iPhone, iPad and iTunes on my MacBook Air.
